Holiday Bonus for Young Sitters

Our two neighbor girls babysit for me about 8 hours per week (2 days of 4 hours). They only watch my 3 year old but have watched the other two periodically at night. The girls are 12 and 14 and always work together. They charge me 5 dollars per hour for one kid so I pay them around 40-50 per week. How much should I give them for a Xmas bonus? Is 20 bucks each about right?

What can I do next?

Sounds like a nice bonus!

When we had teen sitters, we gave gift cards to the local movie theater.

Our daughter is a sitter now. Last year she got those super soft socks from bath and body and loved them, she also got Starbucks gift cards. She's turning 18 in a couple weeks.

$20 each is wonderful and you can bet they will remember you and give you first dibs on holiday and night sitting.

I think I would have been thrilled with that bonus when I was babysitting at their age.

I think it's wonderful! I'm sure they don't expect that, and will be thrilled.

So glad you posted this, as my sitter also gets paid $50 a week. But she has 3 kids, so I was planning on giving her an extra $25 and buying a $10 gift card to McDonald's for each of the older boys (ages 9 and 7) and an inexpensive toy for the 20 month old baby. I guess I'm on the right track!
