take him back to the ER!!!! high fevers going on for days like that is dangerous, could even be meningitis
hello my 9 month old has had a high fever for 3 days now. the highest point was 104.5 It started sunday morning at 12 am he woke up nd wasnt himself then fell back asleep after an hour. Then around 8 am the fever started. it started slow and we was giving tylenol/ibuprofen and tepid baths along with just bein in a diaper and his temp rose. He vomited a few times and wasnt him self. We took him to the er and they said he had a sore throat and perscribed antibiotics. at this point his temp was 104.5 they dosed him high with tylenol/ibuprofen and after his fever dropped to 101.3 we were released. the next day his vomiting was worse and temp up again!!! got him into his dr and we did chest x ray and blood work. His white cell count was low and she said he had a virus and to stop the anti biotics bc since his tummy is so sensitive its making the vomiting worse. OK Ok OK sorry so long well today is day three and he had a high temp till late morning when it broke So all day he has been sleeping and sweating like CRAZY but NO TEMP. I make sure he drinks his formula andd all when he is awake but the sleeping all day, is that a good thing? or should i alert his dr again? He seems so peacefull and over the last few days none of us got much sleep . Also has anyones babes recently been sick similiarly? TIA
thanks everyone, His dr kept calling checking on him all day yesterday so i was in constant touch with her. He has been fever free all night and doing great. Back to being my tiny tornado lol Thanks Everyone for your words.

aww, poor baby! So sorry. Keep pushing the fluids...if the fever doesn't go up again, maybe he is on the mend...if it comes back, I would definitely contact your doc. again...fevers are nothing to mess with. As far as sleeping, I would think that is a good thing...he's probably exhausted from the past three days. I know when I feel like that, I want to sleep. Good Luck and I hope he feels better.
If he is sleeping, this is a good thing. Don't worry about whether too much sleep will keep him up at night because it won't. As long as his temp is below dangerous, you shouldn't worry about tylenol or ibuprofen either. A temperature is a good thing. It means his little body is doing what it is supposed to do: fighting the sickness. Sleep is important for fighting to. The sweating just means he is doing a good job fighting it. He is breaking his temp. Our doctor also told us not to worry about formula when our son throws up. You still need to keep fluids in him to keep his electrolytes up. You should try giving him either pedialyte (which is expensive), gatorade, or sprite. That will keep him hydrated while he won't eat anything, and will help with the throwing up. Most important thing is to keep him hydrated, and to let him sleep so he can fight off this temp. My son did the same thing when he was sick like this. I was worried too, but he was just fighting the illness. He took a nap an hour or two after he woke up, and then he would sleep for a few hours and wake up again for another hour or two, and so on. Good luck!
I'm not a dr., but I would say, let him sleep! His body is probably trying to fight and recover now that the fever has broken. As long as he's staying hydrated, no worries.
However, you may want to call the dr. just to make sure, but it sounds like he's on the mend. :)
Hang in there!
There is a fever virus going around that my neice had. She had 4 days of over 103 then suddenly it stopped. Virus take a little to get rid of sometimes. Sounds like your doing the right thing mama! Hang in there!
My 11 month old just had something similar. Started with a fever that lasted 4 days. The first day of fever he threw up once. On the second day I took him to the doctor and she said his throat looked very sore. She said he had a virus and it was probably that hand foot mouth disease. Apparently its going around out here. On the 5th day a rash broke out on his stomach, chest, back, neck, hairline, and a little on his face, arms, and legs. Those first 4 days he was very irritable and not eating well. Now the 7th day today his rash is completetly gone and finally acting his normal self.
I am surprised that the doctor didn't have you stop formula for a few days...for us, that is standard when there is repeated vomitting. The less they drink, the higher the fever gets, the higher the fever gets, the less they drink...vicious cycle. Sounds like his body need the rest.
Sounds like stomache flu. My girls are always tired for a day or 3 after the throwing up.
