High End Outlet Stores

First off, saying High End Outlets, seems really wrong. Next, this post isnt going to be what you think. As usual my posts kinda do this.

I have this Frenemy, that for some reason I still stay in contact with her. Known her for 15 years or more. Had a blow out with her, but shes crept back in my life, and honestly the only reason I tolerate knowing her, is her blatant disregard for propriety. It amuses me and peaks my interest. It doesn't even make me mad or jealous. She has always been in competition with me since HS. Its pretty sad.

Anyway, recently on Facebook she has been bragging about starting up school again. She has 2 little ones now, but before kids, she had only retail jobs, then nothing and lived off parents for a while, then a nanny job in which she was fired for being lazy. Then she met her husband and worked as a receptionist for a church. After her overspending issues, she was forbade a credit card by said husband, and cut off the internet for a long time. Now shes back. She's been a SAHM for a while with her second, and just decided to go back to school for Web Graphic Design in order to help her husband's side business. OK kudos for her right?

Well recently she posted, (also copy and pasted it to my wall and have NO CLUE why she did this, cause I would NEVER shop there, even if I won millions of dollars its not my style) she was so excited to hear that there were high end outlets coming to a town near her and that now with her new job combined with her husband's manager of the IT position for a company, they will be able to afford to shop there all the time. When I sarcastically asked, "what do you consider High End?" she says Saks Fifth Ave, Coach, and other various boutiques. So do you think a salary of a Web Graphics Designer for a small in basement company, and a IT manager can afford to shop these stores often? My reply was "maybe the discount aisle" I got a snarky reply and I probably deserved it. What do you think? how long can she shop there before she goes bankrupt?

What can I do next?

Well, I would just stay out of her business and not worry about it. You have no clue how much they make or what their savings, debts and shopping budget is like. I have seen some high end outlet malls like that with really good prices, though if she's a major shopaholic then, she can definitely overspend and get into financial trouble again. But yeah, you did deserve the snarky reply, (though I can see how it could be tempting to make one, lol!).

I have friends that don't even have as good of jobs as these two and they still buy that kind of stuff. Never in my life will I figure out how they afford it. She won't be shopping there long before she is bankrupt, and more than likely husbandless.

Funny though, because I thought the same thing while reading this - maybe if she shops down the clearance aisles when they have the "take an additional 70% off the lowest price" sales going on! lol

I don't understand the big deal about "high end" stuff anyway!

Probably not long. But you can find some really good deals there sometimes!

But even if she does go bankrupt shopping there, I think it's sad. I guess some people need to learn their lessons more than once.

She will find out soon enough (again) she cant keep shopping there all the time before the money runs out, or the debt piles up.

Well since most of the stuff at the outlet stores are lower quality made just for the outlet store I'd say your friend is in for a shock when she goes.

she's just trying to revel in her pre-famed glory and day-dreaming. Sometimes that's what it takes to motivate us to get through the challenges (her schooling perhaps?). And, seriously though, what do you care? Are you jealous? Or perhaps, just smarter with your money?? :)

Probably deserve it? Snarky is as snarky does, I guess.

I don't know what a Web Graphics Designer or an IT manager even make, so no opinion there.

I will say, even if it's an outlet store and prices are good, if she shops there enough, she'll start having problems again. Four outlet handbags a week or one 'full store price' bag a week are the same thing money wise. She'll just justify it differently, i.e. I got so much more for my money.
