One that allows you to adjust the height of the chair and has a removable tray so that when he's ready he can be pulled right up to the table in the highchair instead of buying a highchair and then booster.
Im trying to buy a High Chair for my son but i cant really tell what ones are good and what ones are bad!!!
what would be the ultimate high chair???
Do i even need one????

I had the Fisher Price "Rainforest" high chair.
Good high chair. High ratings.
BUT my kids HATED high chairs.
I never used it. It was still like brand new because I never used it. And then we gave it to someone else.
What I found that was better, were those seats, that you can strap onto a regular chair.
My kids, liked that much better. AND it is more convenient.
High chairs to me, are useless.
Boy did my kids HATE it. Just Hated it.
Tried to use it from when they started solids at about 6 months old.
It did not work for us.
But the seat strapped onto a seat, was FAR more successful. For them and me.
We didn't ever have a separate high chair so I can not comment on that but we did go though several different booster chairs...4 total. By far the best chair was the Fisher Price chair. I watched 3 other children around the time they turned one and they all sit up better in the Fisher Price booster although I had two others boosters so we could all eat at the same time. When I had my second daughter I thought I would try a different kind that appeared to be better for the 3yr old but she kept insisting on sitting the old chair and the 6 mo old sit better in the old chair, too... so we just went and got a 2nd Fisher Price. I thought I would miss not having a "real" high chair but it just never made sense :). I think the others we tried were an Evenflow that reclined and a safety first that converted to older child's seat and a wimpy one from Walmart. Oh and the fisher price one we got was the simple one - we tried one with a high cushioned back and it was big and unnecessary. The little ones were comfortable in our seat and would sit for lengths of time if needed playing with stuff on the tray. :) Good luck!
I have a Baby Trend and it is the best!
It has 3 reclining positions, it's on wheels that can lock, has a tray with removable insert that can be run through dishwasher, removable and washable seat cover, adjustable height, 5 point harness, footrest, and folding.
I'm telling you, we love it! My oldest used it until we had our second, 2 1/2 years! Now it is 3 1/2 years old and is still in great condition!
IMO skip all the fancy stuff. I plan use the IKEA simple high chairs this time around. They can have a tray or not, you can use them at the table itself, but the child must be able to sit up. We are having twins and just think all of the others are too big and hard to clean. Also the IKEA is about $20 each with the tray where you can't get these others without spending at least $50 for the "simple" model.
I don't know if I could live w/o mine...
My daughter sat in it sooo much while I was doing things in the kitchen.
My son gets antsy and so far has not sat in it as much, but it is still handy.
The ones that fit on a regular chair are nice. We transitioned to one of the cheap booster seats for DD when she was about 3.
If money were no object and I needed a highchair I would have bought this one: http://www.target.com/s?keywords=highchairs-boon&AFID...
A friend of mine has it and I think she is pretty happy w/ it.
get one of the ones from targer for like 20 bucks that strap to the chair and have a removable back and tray its great
We had a chicco one and I hated it! I thought it was awful to clean. So many cracks and crevices for food and other stuff to get stuck in. When we moved to Switzerland we bought a Tripp Trapp chair by Stokke. I love it! It is so easy to clean and the chair sits right up to the table so the kid feels like a part of the action. The kid does have to be bale to sit up alone but it has a part that you add to it for when the kids are just starting to sit. It depends on what you want the high chair for. If you want something that you can leave the kid sitting in while you do other things around the kitchen, or if you want him to be able to fall asleep in the chair then this chair won't work for you.
Oh, another plus, the chair grows with the child and can be used forever. It holds the weight of an adult. We actually use both of our chairs as extra seating when we have guests and they are much nicer than folding chairs :)
