ok so ds ears are draining wax. He is draining in both ears. I know this means an ear infection. My question is he has a doctors appt. Tuesday. I can't get him in sooner. Should I do anything in between now and then????? I don't see the point going to the er if not necessary. This appt for tuesday has been set up for a month his doctor has been on vacation. He is also sleeping an awful lot. He doesn't generally run a fever with is infections so I haven't checked his fever yet. So question er or wait for the doctor and do I do anything in the mean time?

What can I do next?

I'd try to get in today! In my experience, if a weekend is coming up and I wait, it gets worse over the weekend!

We do chiropractic when there is an ear infection, helps heal. And we do it regularly to improve nervous system health and keep them away! Both of my kids have only had one in three and six years! I've seen many kids with one time or chronic ear infections helped with chiropractic care, usually within a few months if they're recurring.

I would call or go to the doc. My son had terrible ear infections, draining, some with fever, some without. (now he has tubes) But the infection needs to be treated asap. Also, the way the doc explained the way it feels to them is like you are going up a steep mountain and you feel this tremendous pressure and your ears need to pop. So, on the chance that your poor baby feels like that I say get the meds as soon as you can.

My kids never ran fevers with infection either. Andy's ear drums actually ruptured without me ever knowing he had an infection. I just kept trying to figure out where he was getting the oatmeal he was stuffing in his ears. :(

I would call the doctor, my kids doctor will call in an antibio script for me since I can describe the problem plus he knows me well enough that I am not prone to exaggeration.

Like the oatmeal thing, he called it in right away. Then your son will start healing before he gets miserable.

I would go to quick care and keep the appt for Tuesday also. My son went through this for months with constant middle ear infections no medicine would take it away. Finally he got tubes and adenoids out. Hasn't had one since.

Poor baby even though he isn't running a fever they are still hurting. See if the urgent care can also give you pain relieving drops. They did that for my son helped a lot!

Hope this helps!

Is there a nurse practitioner in the office you go to that could see your child sooner? If not, is there another pediatrician in the same office that has an opening? If neither of these options are available, I'd personally take my child to an after hours clinic, even Minute Clinic at a CVS pharmacy if needed.
