Hi E.,
I was wondedring how the meds were working for you? My sister was on meds while she was pregnant with all of her children. (She has 4!) The meds cost a lot for her but they seemed to work.

Hello. I recently found out that I am pregnant for the third time. Both of my first two pregnancies were fairly uneventful. This time around I am so sick to my stomach all day long. I am not sure what the best way to handle this. I have two other children and a full time job to attend to. All I want to do is lay in bed as if I have the flu. What are some ways to deal with the extreme amount of nauseau I am experiencing.
Thanks to all who gave me some advice. I tried lots of different things and ended up spending a day in the hospital due to being so ill and not keeping much down. The doctor has since then tried a perscription med that has helped somewhat but he pretty much said its part of being pregnant. Anyways, I am hanging in there...week ten. Lets hope this subsides after the first tri-mester.

I am also a big fan of the wrist bands. I ate triskets (saltines made me sick) and drank ginger ale. Good luck.
Hello,
I was sick to my stomach for most of my pregnancy as well. I found that the preggo pops really helped me. (They don't taste all that great, but they did keep the morning sickness at bay so I tolerated them)I have also heard that lemon drops will also help. But you may want to check with your Dr. There are some medicines they can prescribe to help with the morning sickness if you have it really bad.
Hope you feel better soon!
I was sick the during the first trimester and the early part of the second. My mom eventually found something called pregnancy tea and that worked great. I had some in the beginning that someone had given me, but I didn't have my own until later. Also as gross as this is, warm coke worked for me also. Good luck and congrats!
Hi E.! I'm so sorry you're feeling sick, it's rotten I know! I had Morning (noon and night) sickness for both my pregnancies, for the entire pregnancy! I ended having to take an anti-nausea drug (I took Kytril), but give these tips a try and see if they'll work for you. good luck!!
1. Never let your tummy get totaly empty. Have at least a little something in it all the time.
2. Have something with ginger in it. Ginger tea, snaps, candied, even fresh. Also available in capsules.
3. Did you know coke was origionally used as an anti-nausea drug? Still works. and they do sell it as a medicine as "cola syrup"
3. Make sure you're getting enough b-6 and iron in your diet, these deficiencies can cause nausea.
4. For some reason, lavender, chamomile, and rose essential oils (together or single) help.
5. Raspberry leaf tea also posesses antiemeic properties.
I am so sorry to hear you are so sick. I also had this problem with my second child. I was working as an EMT on a local ambulance service and my partner at the time had a few children of her own and was full of ideas. We would get to work in the morning and first thing was she would give me a cup of tea and some saltines. Through out the day she had me eat several times and sit off and on. Don't move too fast when you get up sit down or anything. The fast movements shift what little bit is in your belly and make you feel sick(also why you want to eat severl times) I also found certain things that seem to trigger it so I was unable to even attempt to brush my teeth before noon. I also learned part of my problem was that I was anemic and ended up taking iron tablets several times a day. Ask your doctor if this may be the issue with you also and he can prescribe the needed tablets for you. If you are having problems with your prenatal vitamins try taking them right before bed, that way you don't notice the nasty after taste from them. Make sure no matter how horrible you feel, you continue to drink lots of water to prevent dehydration. A bottle of coke shook up to make it flat also seems to help settle upset stomachs. If it still continues to be unbearable ask your doctor about the possibility of reglan or other meds they can give you to curve the nausea. One more hint my partner at work gave me is relax. If you start feeling sick stop and take a deep breath and relax for a minute. You may be doing too much or moving too fast at the very second it hits you and just standing there for a second and taking some deep breaths can help. Good luck and congrats on the new bun in the oven!
Hi E.,
Congrats...although it probably doesn't seem so great right now. I was sick during my second pregnancy until the third trimester. I found that if I drand plenty of water and ate saltines all day it helped. I kept a glass of water and saltines by my bed and then first thing I did was ate a saltine and drank the water. After that I would get out of bed. I found that I wasn't as sick that way. Also, as much as you don't want to, eat. Eat alot of small meals. Good luck. Hopefully it will get better.

I also found that peppermints worked for me.
E.,
I feel for you. I just found out I am 5 weeks with my 3rd and so far not sick however with my other 2 I was sicker than a dog. The only thing I could hold down was popsicles and slurpies and saltine crackers. Mine sickness ended after my first trimester. Good luck it does go away for most!
Hi, it's me again. Hey with my third child I felt like laying around all day and sick and just the way you felt and then. After I had the baby, It got even worse for me and I was just miserable, I was sad and still exhausted and all the time then after I would nap. I woke up even more tired it's like it made it worse. Then I found out I had Baby Blues and a swollen thyroid(hypothyroidism)where is slow your metabolism down. So you might just want to get it checked out. I hope you are just tired from all you do at home and not have what I have. Just ask your Doctor at your next visit if they can check it out. Because I didn't find out about baby blues and thyroid until my daughter was 7months old. Plz don't wait as long a I did. It's awful to feel this way. I hope this helps.
Hi E.,
Congratulations! I also just found out I'm pregnant (2nd time) and complained to my OB that I was too sick to eat. She suggested I stop taking my pre-natal vitamins and start taking my daughter's Flintstone's vitamins. I know a lot of women have it really bad, but this has helped me a ton and I wanted to share.
I hear you sister. Try lemon or lime in your water or preggie pops (from the Mother Hood store). I found them to be helpful and natural.
With my first preganancy I too wanted to just lay in bed all day everyday, but by the second time around I figured a couple of things out. First is to eat. Even if you don't want to, even if the thought of food makes you sick. It doesn't have to be a full course meal, but just keep something in your stomach at all times. I used grapes. I caried a bag with me everyday to work and everytime I would start to feel even the slightest bit hungry or sick I would eat a couple. Second Eat 4 to 6 small meals and snacks a day instead of three large meals. I use to eat yogurt, Nutri-grain bars and lots of fruit for snacks. Oatmeal was good for breakfast, it coats your stomach and lasts quite awhile. Last Drink lots of fluids. Gatorade was my drink of choice. Of course I always drink gatorade when I am sick...even if it's not morning sickness. Hope something in their helped :) Good luck and Congrats!!
increase your b-vitamins they help combat nausea and increase your energy levels Look for b-100 time release that wya you're getting it throughout the day.
also be sure you are eating something AT LEAST every 2hrs to keep the nausea at bay
Hi, I had the same problem with my second pregnancy. Someone all ready suggested the Sea Bands(motion sickness bands, Sea bands is the name on the box), but I'm going to do it again. They worked wonders for me. You can get them at just about any drug store. I got mine at Wal-mart. They have a small bead like thing in them that puts pressure on your wrist and it really helps. Make sure you read the directions and get the bead in the right place and I'm sure they'll help you. I hope you feel better!
Have you tried motion sickness bands? They are wrist bands that work the pressure points in your wrists. While they didn't completely eliminate my nausea, they definately helped! You can get them at any pharmacy or Meijers.
Do not feel alone E.. Within 6 weeks of being pregnant I was sick as a dog. I lost 16 pounds and was put in the hospital by 10 weeks along. I was diagnosed with hyper emesis gravida (excessive vomitting with pregnancy). I was nauseaus 24/7 and threw up all of the time. I finally was put on anti-nausea medicine and took it until the day before I delivered. I know what you are going through. If it gets unbearable, you need to contact your doctor about this. They can give you some ideas of what to do, if you do not want to resort to medication to help. Feel free to send me a message anytime if you have questions. Good luck!
You poor thing! I can completely relate. I vomited my way through all nine months of my first pregnancy (complete with hospital stay for a few days at around month three for dehydration), lost all kinds of weight, had no energy and spent the time pretty much bed-ridden, worried sick that the baby was suffering. She came out just fine, thankfully. Second pregnancy, exact same thing. For both I tried everything listed here, plus the doctor had me try dramamine. My poor husband steeped ginger tea and tried to tempt me with every form of cracker he could find. Truly, a pregnancy like that is indescribable unless you've suffered it (not that there aren't worse things, but truly, it's so depressing to feel sick that long!). With my second, I finally found the solution on my own at around month four. After much internet research, I discovered the cure that Canadians have been using for years. It consists of one Unisom (you can start with half a pill actually - it took a whole one for me) at night before bed and a vitamin B-6 supplement every morning. The ingredients of the two constitute a drug that was used for anti-nausea in pregnancy years ago but then was wrongly blamed for birth defects and dropped in the US. It has since been proven NOT responsible, is still used regularly in Canada, and is to be re-approved in the US soon. It was a REALLY tough choice for me to go the medicine, I didn't want to take anything, believe me. Having a seven-month old to take care of (which was virtually impossible in my state) already when I became pregnant with the second though, prompted me to do the research. I was amazed by the result, it immediately took away the nausea, I took it from month four on (and personally I probably wouldn't have taken it until after the first trimester, even had I found it sooner) and my daughter is now a healthy happy eight-year-old.
If medicine is not the way you want to go, the only thing that made my life easier was not bothering to eat things that don't come back up easily or are particularly unpleasant coming back up. I know that sounds horrible - but it did make life more bearable. Some suggestions would be apple sauce, oranges, cinnamon life cereal, fruit loops, etc.
Good luck and hang in there - for some it gets better after that third or fourth month mark. :) Just do what you can do and let the rest go.
the smell of lemon helped me a lot and they also sell candy at the mother hood store called pregnancy drop that kick the sickness you are fealing in the butt good luck hope this helps
