Hi-i have had horrible ears all my life-when I would go on a plane my dr told me to chew gum at take off until we were in the air and then again at landing until the pane is stopped-it worked for me-good luck
I am taking my 3yr old on a plane, and was wondering what to use or do if her ears plug up??? I am afraid that she will get SO upset, and won't listen to me when I try to get her to yawn, or open her mouth wide. Any suggestions on this?????

Go to CVS or Walgreens and pick up the ear plugs called
Ear Planes. You put the ear plug in the ears I think it was 1hr before landing. What it does is regulate the air pressure to reduce the pain.
My 7 yr old just crys in pain from the air pressure. We bought these for our trip in June, and she had to pain.
They have them in child and adult sizes.
Whenever we fly I take my daughter by the pediatrician's that week just to look at her ears and make sure she's ok to fly, since she was prone to ear infections. And I agree that lollipops are a good idea.
Buy her a bottle of water with a spout after you get thru security. Also give her snacks during take off and landing. Has she had benedryl before? If not, try giving it to her while you are home. It will help keep her ears clear, and probably make her sleepy. However, there is a percentage of kids it will make super hyper - so you don't want to try it for the first time on a plane.
LT,
Once you go through security you can buy her something to drink...like a water bottle. Have her take sips after take off and before landing. Even have some snacks. I get really bad ear popping in planes and last time I bought ear plugs at the airport and they worked awesome. I don't know if she will let you put them in, but they do make onces for children. Good Luck!
Does she know how to chew gum yet? If not chewy candies or fruit snacks can be helpful. The key is constant swallowing.
Does she still use a sippy cup? If she does, buy something for her to drink from the sippy after you go through security. If she doesn't use a sippy buy her something to drink during take off. These things have usually helped my kids when we fly.
I always bring a bunch of suckers for take off and landing and in between. The sucking helps clear the kids' ears. Good luck!
