hi everyone, i am nursing my second child. she is 3 months old. and i am just now having a problem with my supply. i already know that i am too busy and need to slow down which i believe is why it's not so good. but besides relaxing more, is there anything else i can team that with to bring my supply back to where it was? she is content after she eats. so i don't need to supplement yet, but i am determined not to. i nursed my first for 8 months and would like to do the same for this one.

What can I do next?

If you're low on breast milk and it looks you are. Then try Healthy nursing tea. I have improved my supply through this.

drink more water & let her sleep with you and nurse all night. If you want to try an herbal supplement, try Fenugree. Good luck!

If your baby is content after she eats, I'm wondering why you think you have a problem with your milk supply. You may have partially already answered your own question - if you're really busy you may also not be eating enough or drinking enough water which can affect your milk supply. I personally don't believe in allowing my baby to sleep with me only because my greatest fear is that I'll never get him back into his own bed or it will be a big struggle to do so. I've heard that planning a "nursing weekend" can help where you just stay close to home, relax and nurse frequently for an entire weekend to help build or maintain your supply.

After she eats try pumping (if you have a pump or purchase one). When my son was 2 1/2 months old he weaned himself off the breast so I tried pumping after trying to get him to nurse. But for me it did not work, plus between trying to get him to nurse & because he wouldn't I would have to give him a bottle, then try & pump (manually) it took forever & I was too exhausted. But that is what everyone told me pump between feeding & manuals are better I say go with electric but they are $. Good luck!

as long as baby has 5 or more dipes a day that need changing baby is getting enough. don't worry about weight unless baby literally stops gaining. your body is now at the time where it reaizes your not nursing twins. if you truly have supply issues there is plenty to take. fenugreek, blessed thistle, fennel, goats rue, alfalfa, borage oil, & oatmeal.

Hi C.,

How do you know that you are having a problem with your supply? Somewhere around 3 months your body levels off and you only produce what baby needs, whereas before many people tend to over-produce.

In any case, do you pump at all? Pumping more frequently throughout the day may help to increase your supply. Also, be sure to drink plenty of water and get enough rest (I know this is hard with a new second baby...), but it is important for maintaining your supply.

Good luck!
