I am going to be pasting paper cut-outs on the walls in our nursery for the arrival of our new baby next month. They are delicate and detailed. Does anyone have any suggestions of what to use to get them to stick and possibly coat them with to keep little hands from picking them off?
I agree with mod-podge. It comes in glossy or matte and it's the best since it's a glue and laminate in one!

Now I am telling you this not seeing the cut outs but when I was doing my son's room I wanted to put a cut outs up. I put them in picture frames. The pictures were of 3 kinds of dump trucks. This was I could change the decorations and not worry about repainting. Now like I said I am not sure if this will work for you but just wanted to throw that out to you. Have fun decorating.

Mod Podge sealer glue should do the trick. I used it on paper cutouts on a helmet and it worked great. Just coat the area on the wall and the back of the paper cutout and stick together. It cleans up with wet sponge when it is still wet and is non-toxic. You can also add a coating on the tops of the cutouts once they are on the wall to really seal them in, but it may not be necessary for a wall application.
Laminate them and extend it to a 1/4" border. This can be done at any office store (staples, office depot, etc).
To apply them to the wall, there's a yellow putty / clay like substance you can get at any craft store (or maybe office store) that you can stick them to the wall, and remove as you would like.
My best suggestion would be mounting them to cardboard, then cutting the cardboard to shape. You can apply them with 3M poster tape. I forget what the exact name is, but they are double sided and won't mark up the walls. Maybe use wallpaper glue if you want it to be really permanaent, and keep them where the baby can't reach them. I made similar things for both of my kids rooms and everything in reach has since been removed from the walls... They can be easily reapplied since I used cardboard and the 3M adhesives.
If you use decoupage glue (get at A.C.Moore) coat one side a gently put up rubbing it smoothly with your finger tips. when it dries put 2- 3 coats over it after it is completly dry use a very fine steel wool .Rub it gently to get the gluey shine out.If they need to be removed at any time use a sponge with warm water and it will slowly peel off .you may end up with a slight glue texture. I would use super glue on the cut outs and check with a Paint store to see what they have to cover them!
