Does anyone have a recommendation for cleaning hard water stains on granite countertop. We have really hard water and black granite and checked Lime Away but label says can't use on granite.

What can I do next?

There is a wonderful series of cleaners that work on Corian and Granite. I rent my home and my landlord said to only use that cleaner on the counters. It is put out by Stone Care International. Their number is (800) 839-1654 and the website is www.stonecare.com

Good luck in your situation.

Hi D., I clean houses and I use a product called LOC Soft Scrub. Besides doing a great job it is gentle on surfaces and biodegradable.

I get it at a web site: www.we-us.mychoices.biz

(With a $75 order you get free shipping)

It has a money back gaurantee also. I love shopping there and use the cleaning products whenever I clean a house.

Hi D., One of the things I love to use to clean my granite counter tops and natural stone floors ect. Is a steamer you can get at Bed Bath & Beyond and Linen & Things
They have a hand held one by SHARP and it does a great job. I love and clean with a steamer all the time. Just make sure you take a 20%off coupon we get in the mail.

I've also tried finding things that can be used on the counters with chemicals being a no-no..and finally I found at Ralf's is GRANITE GOLD daily cleaner and then a polisher. other stores like VON's and Albertsons also started carring another granite cleaners. Home depot also has some finally on and Bed Bath and Beyond too. Anyway if you just use one of the daily cleaners you can spray it on there and just let it sit for awhile it should wipe off pretty easily. It eaven helps those spots that whater has been left on and makes the area darker then the rest. Oh, and the granite cleaners are in a spray and I've found near the top shelf of the stores in the cleaning isle.
You could also look up some natural remedies or I'm sure you'll get more replies with some which I'll come back here to look.

Good luck!

Granite Gold is good and so is Countertop Magic. You can get it at Costco. It works great. Shines and cleans at the same time. I spray it on, wipe off, then flip the towel over and use the dry side to shine.

Just be sure to read labels as somethings could damage it. Good luck.

Try a prodict called "Granite Gold". They make weekly cleaner, daily cleaner and wipes. Bed, Bath and Beyond carries them. I have also seen it at Ralphs and sometimes Costco. If that doesn't work, I would seriously consider bringing in a professional to clean it up and reseal the counters. If you are able to get the water spots off yourself, then seal the counters. If they are properly sealed you should not be having this problem. 511 Impregnator is a good product for sealing. Counters should be sealed bewteen every year and two years. If water does not bead up on it, it probably needs sealing. I know as I write this, I need to seal my own. Good luck.

Hi D.! I shop with a company that makes products that are safer for the home, family, and the environment, and, the best part is, their products are less expensive than what you can buy in the stores as well. I would love to tell you more about it, as I have been shopping with them for four years.

Let me know!

Hi D.! There are some great cleaning products from the LOC (liquid organic cleaners)line that are not only fabulous cleaning products but totally green and safe for your household! I know for myself, I've got my little guy running around and am glad to know that the surfaces he's in contact with are safe for him. One of the products (the multipurpose cleaner) should be safe for your granite tops. I've put a link where you can find the product as well as pasted the description of it! Hope this helps!

https://buyersfreedom.mychoices.biz/Retail/Products.aspx?...

"For almost 50 years, Liquid Organic Cleaner (L.O.C.) has provided superb cleaning power, cutting through grease and grime, and leaving a streak-free, sanitary, and fresh-smelling surface. Powerful and effective, L.O.C. delivers better combined soil removal and streak resistance than Mr. Clean® and Murphy®Oil Soap†. No-rinse, non-dulling formula is safe for all water-washable surfaces, from sealed wood floors to porcelain. Mild enough for hand washing. Just one ounce makes up to one gallon of cleaner."

The best thing for granite is a mixture of vinegar and water. I'd say 1 part vinegar to 2 parts water. Nothing else should need to be used.

You have to scrap it off with a razor blade. Gently use the blade to remove the deposits. Works great, doesn't harm the granite and no harsh cleaners are necessary.

Try a pummous stone. It works on the glass tiles in our pool, I'm sure it's worth a go on granite.

I have dark green (almost looks black) granite countertops and hard water as well. I mostly have trouble around the faucet. Only use products made for granite, glad you checked the label for Lime Away! Making a paste with baking soda and water is a safe way to clean though and works great in the small area around my faucet.

You can go to any tile store and they will have granite cleaner, but a cheap alternative is vinegar and water, equal parts.

Hi D.,

Trying using a mix of water and vinegar. Vinegar is the best source to get rid of the calcium deposits and hard water stains. You might even pour a little bit over the area and let it sit for a while and then wipe it away, then clean with soapy water.

We also bought some general polish solution to clean our granite countertops at Home Depot that was specific to granite. We used it once a year or so and it kept the granite shiny.

Home Depot & Lowes sell cleaner specifically for granite, that is really all you should ever use on them.

I'd recommend vinegar (you can warm it up a little, but make sure you don't inhale it when it's warm - not dangerous, just unpleasant) or BonAmi.

Maybe you should try Mr. Clean Magic Erasers. They're not expensive, they contain no harmful chemicals, and I know they work really well on tought soap scum in the shower and sinks and even get marker off the walls! It's worth a try and you certainly won't be any worse off. Good luck!!
