Our neighboors are older and they are awesome! They love our two children 2 1/2 yr old and 2 month old, our kids to them are kind of like rent a grandchild to them.lol... They will babysit if we need it, they come over to visit/play with them. They buy them Birthday, christmas gifts and a special halloween candy basket, well i think you get the point. My husband and i want to do something for them for christmas and we arent surewhat to do does anyone have an idea?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thank you all for your help... We did use some of your help. We bought them a clay pot and put the kids handprints on it, then let our son color with chalk on it and then clear coated it and put a gift card to a restaurant and a flower nursery by us in it.....

Since they love your kids so much then something from them would be sweet. Maybe a cute pic of them playing outside in a picture frame with a wide mat so the kids can put their handprints on the corners. Then add a gift card to their favorite dinner place & your done : )

Offer to help them decorate their home and yard for the holidays. You could order pizza or chinese or make a nice dinner and take it over to share as you decorate.
Also be ready to help them take everything down in January.

You could print up a list of the top 10 things you enjoy about having them in your lives. Put it in a nice frame & wrap it. Have your kids draw (or scribble :)) their names or a little picture (either on the list or in a card). I'm sure they'll love it!! =)

Sounds like you have something to be thankful for tomorrow. Awesome!

I have neighbors that are similar, though I never ask for them to babysit, and I do pay when they do favors (like watering the house when we are away).

I make them homemade cinnamon buns for xmas morning, and my kids make them cards and ornaments.

If my neighbors babysat, i'd get them a gift card to a restaurant.

It is so wonderful for your little ones to be around an older generation in that way!
I am sure that they would never want you to feel like you are trying to repay them which would make them feel less like a part of the family, so I would think maybe a little photo album of the kids, or handprints of your children are things they would cherish!
I just saw really cute Handprint Ornaments on my favorite website ( my addiction actually, lol!) www.onestepahead.com
I think my big boys are too big to make them now :-( but I bet they would be perfect for your neighbors!
But I honestly think any gift that represents your little ones in some fashion would mean the most to them!
Happy Holidays!

Just think of what you'll give their grandparents! :)

Photos of your kids, handmade ornaments, basket of Christmas baking - pretty much anything personal or sentimental would be appreciated, I'm sure.

All I know is, older/elderly people.... have a hard time washing and cleaning their own windows. And, they could use the help.
A Mom I know, they do help like that, for elderly, and it always is very very appreciated. Or they help fix up whatever needs fixin', for their home.

And a dinner out, gift card, for a great restaurant they would like.

And, a handwritten, thank you card.... not generic things written in it... but heartfelt thoughts about how much you appreciate them and all that they do.
Thank you cards, to me, are still very very good to do and goes a long way. It shows, thought. Especially when it is written from the heart.

Also, photo gifts for them of your kids???
www.kodakgallery.com has great photo gifts.
I use them and am always happy with the product.
Even the photo magnets, real nice quality.
