My first reaction was yeast, but then I read about the blisters, so that is probably out.
I see Dr.Sanders in Carpentersville and he is very okay with homeopathic treatments (he won't prescribe them, but will give you the diagnosis and tell you it's okay if you don't use his script, if you get my drift... and is supportive of extending nursing too!) and he's in with a DO, but I've never seen him myself (they are with Valley Family Medicine)
Also, there are lots of things that are conventional and still safe, especially topical things and especially as your nursling gets older and weighs more. I'm not in favor of dosing up on anything either myself, but sometimes you have to weigh the pros and cons. Kudos to you for continuing to nurse and educating yourself on homeopathics!
Other than that, I don't have a lot of advice. Have you posted this in the discussion board at mothering.com? There are lots of moms there who know holistic meds and treatments and will take into consideration your BF.
Also, if you ever want to chat, I homeschooled and mostly "unschooled" my daughter through preschool and kindergarten. There are yahoo homeschool groups here but they are few and far between. Try meetup.com too- I have a friend who found one there.
Good luck! It's nice to see like-minded mamas on mamasource.
