Our neighbors have 2 pit bulls. The male one is really nice but the female vicious! When my husbands truck got stuck he was right by the fence trying to get it out and it bit at him catching his pants and ripping them. This morning she saw a cat that frequents our porch and dug under our fence and she and the male came over and trapped the cats and ripped it to shreds in our front yard so I can't let me kids out in fear that they will see it. My daughter loves animals and that cat and will be devisted to see it like that. She left her gate open once and the dogs were out but when neighbors say anything to her about it she doesnt care at all!! I don't know what to do moms! There is no animal control out here becuase we are outside the city limits and I am fearful of my 2 young kids lives! I can't close my eyes without picturing that dog deciding one day to come through the fence and attack them! Exp since the only parking here is right next to the fence! That is the last thing I want and the last thing I need is for my hubby to get arrested for animal crulety cause if that dog comes into our yard again you can bet my hubby will not take it lightly! Help! What do I do? My lease isnt up until this summer and I have a newborn so moving would be a really hard option for us right now! Thanks in advance!

What can I do next?

Call the police and report it since they have already bit your husband and have killed a cat outside of THEIR yard. If they don't help contact your local vet clinic they might also have some resources that will be able to help you.

Hi A.!
Just thought I'd let you know my husband is a police officer. He has said himself, if an animal ever, ever, ever tried to harm our daughter or one of us, he will not hesitate to shoot it. Guess what? He can. If you are in fear of an animal that is about to attack or cause harm to you or anyone in your presence, you are legally allowed to do whatever it takes to protect your family. That includes hurting, trapping, or killing the vicious animal. Have you tried the ASPCA? If not, I would call them and see what they can do about seizing these animals. One thing I highly reccommend is contacting the local police and documenting with them that there is an issue with these dogs. Does your husband know his rights in protecting your family? He should have had those dogs taken when they got him through the fence. I promise, there is something you can do to have them removed. Just talk to your local police department and I'm sure they will tell you how to resolve this. Good luck, A.. Watch those babies!! It sounds like you're living next to a very dangerous situation. If you have any questions about your legal rights, feel free to contact me and I will have my husband tell you everything you need to know to protect your babies.

What county do you live in? I am not an expert on AC but my husband is. I know his department has contracts to handle county AC issues. Other Counties in Texas have there own staffed AC departments. It sounds like you simply need to know who to contact. Also in most counties in Texas once that dog steps on your property you have rights to contain or take care of the situation based on laws set by the state and local county laws.

Yes, report it to the police. Even without animal control, you obviosuly have evidence with the cat that the dogs are vicious. Make a police report every time something happens and eventually they will take the dog away...

Hello A.-

It sounds like you have already checked into this. What about contacting the police dept? There has to be some type of recourse.
