I always use 1 teaspoon Kudzo root power diluted in hot apple juice, add to equal part cold apple juice once the powder is diluted. My son stops throwing up every time he drinks the Kudzo apple juice.
My daughter is 12 months and just got the first case of the flu. She is so miserable! Any tricks to help her feel better?
THANK YOU.

Just an idea - when my stomach is feeling upset & quezy, I take a tea meant to calm your tummy. Ut's completely natural with no caffiene. I would give her some in a bottle. The one I like is called Sweet Dreams by bigelow. It's not specifically for upset tummies, but others are. You can find them near the hot chocolate at walmart or any grocery store. Just a suggestion, but it may be worth a try. Good luck! I hope she feels better soon :)
My toddler had a stomach bug and we put her on the brat diet until she felt better. Brat stands for: Bananas, Rice, Apple sauce, Toast
These foods are much softer on a tummy. Make sure she gets enough fluids. Even if she takes tiny sips all day long. If she gets dehydrated, it will only make things worse.
Another thing that helped us is when my daughter would vomit, we would try to control our reaction so it wouldn't scare her. We would cuddle her and tell her how much we love her.
I hope your daughter feels better soon!
I agree with everybody else. Keep her hydrated and see if somethings bother her tummy more than others. My kids, even that little, like sucking on icepops if excessive cough is part of the problem, you just have to hold it for them and know it will be messy. Keep her close!!! Yes she will spit all over you but keep her close all the same. If she is uncomfortable in the bath (sometimes it hurts when they are sick) sit next to the tub with her and run the shower and create a steam room.
The biggest thing is the hydration... just keep working on finding something she likes and will keep drinking and eventually she will start holding it down. Oh, and straight water on a sick tummy is usually harsh, add in an ounce or two of pedialyte or juice or something...
I think white grape fruit juice is said to be the easiest on tummies, although most pediatricians will recommend pedialyte... I know they do say gatorade has too many electrolytes (I say that because my husband really likes gatorade when he is sick and I have to remind him not to give it to the little ones.)
Hang in there,

Put your hand on her forehead and hold her head upright while she's throwing up. This keeps the vomit out of her nose. My parents did this for me every time I was sick. It's very comforting.
Call your doctor. You want to keep her fluids up, but if you do it too fast she'll just throw up more.
If you're still nursing, keep that up, a lot, and extra. You can do pedialyte either in a bottle or a popsicle. You might check with her doctor, but Tylenol will help her feel better. Depending on if it stays down or not, they may let you switch it with Motrin like you would for a fever. Hang in there. There's nothing worse than when your baby gets sick for the first time. My experience at that age is that vomitting is pretty short lived. Just watch for dehydration, dark eyes, dry lips, etc. GL
Not really, just keep giving her fluids even if she throws them up...making sure she is hydrated is so important! Just lot's of love, cuddles and rest...hang in there, my 6 year old just got through the stomach flu and it was awful, 8 hours of non stop puking! She was so miserable and it breaks your heart. The Dr said every vomit give her three tsps full of water or gatorade that some of it will absorb small amounts. Also Note a child should never vomit over 8 hours and if she has gone on longer, call your Pediatrician ASAP!
Ok, my 12 month old just went thru the flu. It is very hard as a parent. I bought a vicks vapor rub BABY. It is totally safe and seemed to soothe her a little. I also made sure to give her a bath everyday because the vapors helped as well. Johnson and Johnson makes a vapor bath that seemed to help. I really just gave her what ever she wanted. I found some pedialite from target that was apple flavor (target brand in individual servings) she liked them much better than the regular pedialite. Really just some TLC. My daughter is a cuddler, so we layed on the couch and snuggled a lot. I would put her in the one piece jumper and hand out. I hope this helps. There is really not a lot you can do for them but these are some things that helped Ashley. Good Luck!
