Hi Ladies,

I recently took my 11 year old for his semi-annual cleaning to a ped. dentist in Bartlett. I have an ok insurance plan that covers the majority (70%) of preventative care procedures, but I walked out of the dentist's office with a $75 bill. It may not seem much, but with 2 other kids and my hubby and I due for cleanings... this could get costly ... AND we'd have to do it again in 6 months ... yikes! I'm still in debt from last year's visits. I'm pressed for time as I've got a 4 year old needing a physical for pre-school later this month and my daughter needs sealants. Any help is greatly appreciated - Thanks!

What can I do next?

Dupage dental care, they are wonderful, take most plans but also offer payment plans, evening and weekend hours too. The pediatric dentist is excellant, she talks to the child the entire time distracting them, gives them cool sunglasses to wear during the procedure and then sends them home with stickers and toothbrushes. She has made my daughters (4yr old) visit to the dentist one tht she looks forward to.

We go to Hanson and Hanson on Irving Park Road in Hanover Park. They are a husband wife team that have a dental practice in their home (or what was their home when they started) so overhead is low. We see Elizabeth Hanson. She is very good with people of all ages and can accommodate all our quirks. I have special needs kids and she's been good with them. They take most insurance policies and they also take medicaid. They have evenings and Saturday hours as well. Good luck on your search! E.

Look up Ameriplan or call them. I use Ameriplan and I love it. I had my gums xrayed for instance and checked and it was thirty dollars. I had my teeth removed with three sets of pain shots and it was $160 altogether I think. It's worth checking into, but you have to pay cash. Now there was a different dentist whom I didn't trust that was a specialist and was going to remove my son's wisdom teeth for seventeen hundred dollars. I said no on that one. He has Kidcare and that might be a different issue. The specialist wouldn't work out a payment plan.

I know there is a guy on Main St. in Lombard I have heard good things about. A little more of a distance from you but only ten minutes from Wheaton; I plan on taking our son there shortly for the first time. Good luck!
