Hey ladies!
My husband and I celebrated our 10th anniversary just over 4 years ago by leaving the kids w/ Grandma and going on a 5 night vacation to the Dominican. Lovely vaca....warm weather, awesome beaches/water, pool with swim up to bar...it was great! Our girls were only 3 and 4 at the time, too young for us to bring them and still enjoy our experience. Next fall we'd like to do something again but this time take our girls with us. They'll be 8 and 9 and will be old enough (in my opinion anyway) to be included in the kid activities the resort provides for guests...just an hour or two a day.. Plus, they're able to stay up at night (I'm talking 9 or 10pm....nothing TOO crazy!...and sleep in a bit in the morning).

I'd go back to the Dominican, but my mil is recommending Cancun. She's traveled A LOT, and says a resort she's stayed in in Cancun, called Riu-something, would be great for kids. I'm just wondering though if any moms on here have taken an all-inclusive resort vacation either in Cancun (or anywhere else) that was a great place for kids.

We're looking to go a specific week in Oct, when the girls will already have 2 days off from school (holiday and teacher prof day). Anyone have any suggestions? Our last vacation was 2 years ago....a Disney vacation that was anything BUT relaxing. Now....I just wanna chill with my family.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thanks. I would totally go to Punta Cana again, that's where hubby and I went 4 years ago. Using "vacationstogo.com" I found a place in Cancun for 7 nights all inclusive for a total of $2700....so it looks like there's some good deals out there. I'm going to check Punta Cana out also. Can't wait..this is MY kind of vacation!

Sorry- late post, but I recommend the Iberostar resort in Playa del Carmen. It's about a 40 minute drive from Cancun and they will send someone to pick you up at the airport.

Wonderful service, many things for all of the family to do (they had a kid's olympics while we were there), craft huts, beach volleyball and more.

Food was good, plenty to drink, plenty of beach chairs- it was a perfect chill week! Enjoy and have fun!

Check out tripadvisor.com for reviews. I've always had good luck picking hotels after reading what people had to say there. And, I think your MIL is talking about Riu Palace. They're good hotels, but not any better for kids than a lot of other brands... Club Med, Bahia, etc. also, cheapcarribean.com usually has the best prices once you pick a hotel.

The all-inclusive we went to in Cancun was the Royalle - this was 5 years ago.

My friends have HIGHLY suggested Punta Cana on PR. They say it's affordable (they have 5 kids) and lots to do!!!

I just went to Dreams Riveria this past summer and it was amazing! We have 2 children who did not come with us but saw a lot of families there. I did check out their children activities while we were investigating where to go and they have a decent program. They do a lot with children, including games, movies on the beach, even a camp out! This resort was a little bit pricey but I would go back. The staff was amazing and the rooms, food, everything was wonderful. Highly recommend!!
