Help Planning Winter Birthday

My son is turning 3 next February...I know I'm a little early but I like to start planning. He is a winter baby which limits my options on what to do for his birthday. We have done the hall thing the last 2 years and while it is great, it just seems boring. But I think he is to young for anything like Chuck E Cheese. I live in the Akron Area so I'm don't mind how far we have to go. Does anyone know of any halls or locations that are good for that time of the year? Keep in mind I invite alot of family and friends w/kids. The older family isn't going to enjoy Chuck E Cheese type places. Also any ideas of activities that would keep the children entertained, so they aren't just running around the whole time!!

What can I do next?

Hi L.!

If you are going to have a lot of people attend the party, you might want to try looking at the Pottery Barn Kids catalog for ideas. They have, I think, some good ideas on a carnival theme party, etc. You could set up "stations" for games, with small prizes for the kids and adults alike. Food could be themed for the occasion as well.

If he has an interest like Diego or pirates, you could theme the party to that as well with a scavenger hunt, digging for treasure, an animal search party, etc.

Or you could also have a luau, Things should be going on sale really soon for that type of party favors, etc. It might be fun to impart a little summer into winter. Food, decorations, could all be part of the theme. You could have a limbo contest, etc.

These are just a few ideas for you. If you need any other suggestions, etc., please feel free to contact me.

Good Luck!

considering the other children, have you thought about Pump it Up? There is a location in Stow. I did this for my son's 4th birthday... but we had kids there ranging from 2 - 10. They do have a website too. A little expensive, but totally worth it, they directed and took care of the entire process and I was able to enjoy and play the whole time too!

Good Luck.

The Akron Zoo will let you feed the penguins in the winter. They take you to the education room and let you pet animals and then they feed you food. For 10 kids it's around 200. It's great. I did it when my son was 3 and he is a September birthday. We didn't get to feed the penguins but it was great and they even take care of the favors which are really nice! It's great!!! I want to do it again when my daughter is 3.

My daughter also has a winter birthday so I also had a hard time finding something to do for her party. Last year for her 3rd birthday I decided to give Chuck E Cheese a try. She LOVED it. She got her own special party and Chuck E Cheese even came out and she got to dance with him to her own birthday song. I was also worried about all the children in the family. I invited the younger ones and had a special celebration for the older kids and family members. It turned out wonderful and no one felt left out because they all had the opportunity to celebrate her birthday with her. Good luck and hopefully come February you'll have something picked out for him.

What about that Akron rec center place? Thats obviously not what its actual name, I cant think of it right now. I have a friend who has a membership there and they said its great for kids. They would most likely have a room to have the party in and have a huge water area (from the pics I saw) for the children. If I can find the name I will send it your way!
I just looked it up and its in Cuyahoga Falls its called the Natatorium!
