My hubby and I are due THIS Wednesday with our first child. It's a boy and his first name is going to be James (family name).
We can't decide on the middle name. Please help. Here are our top 5:
Caleb
Thomas
Gabriel
Wesley
Caden
Thanks in advance for your help :)

So What Happened?

Thank you so much ladies for all your help! You've definitely helped us narrow it down... and now we will take the top 2/3 to the hospital with us, and let baby James come into the world and see which one "fits". Appreciate your input!! :)

Wow! I can see why it's so hard to choose! Those are great middle names. So strong! My favorites are Wesley and Caden. If I had to choose between the two I'd probably pick Caden. But maybe you should wait until he's born. Sometimes it's easier to choose after the baby is born! The baby's appearance chooses his own name! Congrats and goodluck! Let us know what HE picks! Lol!

I love the name Gabriel, but I think it is first name worthy. So, maybe you should put Gabriel on hold in case you have a second boy someday so his first name can be Gabriel. Just a thought.

I like James Thomas, but if you don't want people calling him J.T., then forget Thomas! My second choice would be James Wesley. Congrats!

What is your husband's first name? We used my husband's first name for my son (his family tradition), and my first name for my daughter (new tradition).

I like James Thomas or James Caden, when you say them out loud it flows the best. Plus I like either JT or JC as a nickname so make sure you're ok with that.

I'm going to be no help at all ;)

What we do in our family is have TWO middle names. One that represents each side of the family, and then a first name that is the child's *own*, with no family tie.

If it were I, I'd be prone to Wesley James Caden _______

I vote for James Caden; I like less common names, and that has a nice ring. JC is not a bad nickname either.

James Wesley is really nice! So is James Caden.

James Thomas might get the nickname JT (just a thought--I like JT)
James Caleb sounds a little awkward to me, although I like "Caleb."
Ditto Gabriel.

Wesley is my #1 vote! Congratulations!

I think James Caden and James Thomas flow & sound the best, but you should go with your heart after seeing the baby. I do think if you go with Thomas, he might end up being called "JT", so make sure you're ok with that. Another poster mentioned liking Caden as a unique name, and I wanted to say that my 3yr old daughter has 2 Caden's in her preschool class, and we know another 2yr old Cade, so that name is getting quite popular (not that it really matters with a middle name). I think Wesley is the most unique.
Best wishes for a healthy baby! All of your names would be perfect.

I like Wesley. just pick a name that you like the sound of...or one you don't because I only use my daughter's middle name when she's in trouble! However, I often sign cards with her first and middle names: Emily Grace. Good luck!
