I may be pregnant, won't know for about a week. My breats have about doubled in size in the last week and are extremely sore and hurt. When I was pregnant with my son they were sore to the touch but this is kind of different. They just hurt period. They are very heavy feeling and I already can see stretch marks forming (which I didn't have with the first pregnancy). My question is-- is there anything I can to ease the pain? I don't want to take any medication.

What can I do next?

With my second pregnancy my breasts hurt right away as well. What happpened is that my pre-milk (colestrum) came in early so it was like my body was preparing to breast feed right away. They also are huge now, I went from a c from my first daughter to now I am an F. The only way I found to sooth them in the beginning and now 8 months later (my daughter is 8 months old now) was to either soak in a warm tub and sort of press on them or massage to see if the milk comes out and to where very very supportive bras. I also took to wearing breast pads that have lanolin in them already to help prevent the stretch marks and itching. Good luck!

After I had my second son I was breastfeeding and my breasts were so sore. I tried lanolin but didnt seem to help. I called my aunt who is a director of nursing at one of the local hospitals and has worked as an OB nurse for a long time, and she suggested the wierdest thing. But I was desperate. Brew Lipton tea bags then put them in the freezer until they are frozen, i had mine in plastic baggies just to avoid any mess. Once frozen put them on your nipples, it will be cold, but I started to feel instant relief. Something about the herbs used is a reliever. I know it worked for me while breastfeeding,I dont know about before pregnancy but it can't hurt to try. Make sure to use breast pads so the tea bags dont stain your bra. Hope this helps.

I found that taking a warm shower or bath aletting the water flow over mine helped me the most. You could also use warm towels or compresses to relieve some of the aching. I did many of these things during my last pregnancy and it worked pretty good.

My suggestion is to wear a bra as much as possible. Sleep in a sports bra and stick to bras without underwire during the day...if you can. Also, a hot shower and/or warm compress helped me. Take care. A.

I had the same issue when I was pregnant. I found placing warm(almost hot)compresses or cloths helped alot. I also massaged them alot, which sounds crazy but was quite a relief. Meditation and yoga also helped increase circulation in the area. I also avoided my bra as much as I could. It didn't seem to affect them in the long term.

It sounds weird, but I hear that cold leaves of cabbage help, if you place a couple leaves inside the cup of your bra.

My piece of advice is inserts for your bra. They sell them in with the baby/Toddler items like bottles and breast pads. They are circular packs that can be put in the freezer, they don't get hard they're like jelly inside or warmed in the microwave and put into your bra. These were a lifesaver when I was breastfeeding my daughter!!!
