S., I am so sorry, can you talk to your doctor and see if they can supply you with samples or maybe prescribe something a little not as expensive but that will help. Maybe you can use a coupon at a pharmacy, they offer them in the paper and such, for a free gift card and then you can use that money to get things you need. Some drug manufactures also offer discounts if you order directly from them or vouchers, another thing to look into. Also many pharmacies have that 4 dollar rx plan now, maybe there is a drug on there that will help you. You have a lot going on and with loosing a job too, you probably do need your med, dont be scared to get help, call your doctor and request a call from them directly, and really talk it over with them and I bet you will get the help you need. I posted something similar to this for my sister a while back. She suffers from manic depression and no insurance. Here are some of the resources I was given from some great ladies on this site.

If she's in Denton County, she can get help from the Denton County Mental Health and Mental Retardation. The intake number is 800 762-0157. They should be able to give counseling and meds on a sliding scale and determine the source (situational/chemical).

If not, you can call United Way or Catholic Charities who will guide you to free or low cost services.

Most larger churches have counseling services. They probably can't prescribe medication but they'll know where to send her for that.
If you or she does not have a relationship with a church try mine: Richland Hills Church of Christ ###-###-#### and ask for David Gilliland.
Or try 1-800-NEW-LIFE. It's a counseling hotline and they can help you find someone.
Another possibility is to call Mental Health Association of Tarrant County: ###-###-#### for a referral.

I'd recommend generic meds, but there are alternative therapies available. You could check in with a nutritionist or even a Naturalistic Doctor as they can advise you of taking things safely.

Depending upon how severe your depression is - I do not recommend self-treating.

Also try Walmart, they have that drug program. My friends been out of work for over a year and had to go off his meds then he found out it was on the walmart drug list program so now he gets his for like $5, thats less than I pay with insurance. I'd look into it.

i am from a country where healthcare is free as well as drugs (uk) and to me the healthcare system over here is appallingly expensive, i hope obamas new system will change that.

if you are a member of a church maybe you can get help there if you talk to the pastor they may have funds to help needy people.

if you dont go to church start now - at a big one lol (jk)

talk to the local newspaper and see if they will do a story on your plight (have to drop a bit of dignity but you never know some nice person may take pity and help)

get a job at somewhere like a hospital or health center = even if its way down on the ladder, coz they will have very cheap or free health insurance

Try asking your doctor if you can try one of the anti-depressants that's available as a generic; they can be as inexpensive as $4-10 per month. Or, go back to getting the meds from Canada (or Mexico).

Added later: Like someone else mentioned, most pharmaceutical companies have programs for people who need their meds but lack insurance. There may be an income qualification or it may last for just 1-2 years but it's definitely worth checking out. If you have trouble looking it up just send me a personal message with what drug it is and I'll track down the company & their assistance program website for you.

Walmart charges $4 for generic medications, with or without insurance.

I realize you live in Ft. Worth, from your profile, but my Dr., Nataki Hollingsworth in Rowlett has given me samples from her office since we also don't have insurance. I'm sure it also depends on the meds you take & if she has them, but she's very sweet & we love her a lot. Also, I have seen commercials where pharmaceutical companies have said if you can't afford their meds to call them & they have some services that can help with that.
