My dtr. turned 3 in Feb. I had an astro jump, pinata, pin the tail on the donkey. The kids also enjoy musical chairs. These are old games, but they are still enjoyed.

not so mucha game but an activity, we did finger painting. We took 7 of my husbands old shirts and covered all teh kids up really good. Then we took the disposable tupperwear the shallow square ones and gave each one a pallet, laid a huge tarp on the grass, and put huge peices of paper down, they had a blast, and tehn they got to take thier pictures home.. The ones that were left we made a collage of on my daughter wall. For clean up we just had a bucket of lightly soapy water near by with smoe rags and just washed hands and wiped them down and threw the shirts away!!! It was really fun and easy. Just let parents know befor he party so they don't put thier kids in thier sunday best!

Maybe Pin the tail on the donkey or modify it by making it Put the Crown on the Princess. My 3 1/2 year old love music and is really into the Hokey Pokey or musical chairs!! Even like making something, I've seen on Playhouse Disney a whole bunch of different ideas. I think you can go on there website to get information on there projects. Have fun!

Hi!
My idea was to do a little scavenger hunt outside or in the house. We did a Dora one. I printed out pictures of Dora characters and placed them in different locations, and also put them on a map. The kids had to find each character, and the parents would read where to go next. They basically ran around shouting, "Where's Dora" or "Where's Swiper" when they saw the picture on the map. At the last character they found a goodie bag waiting for them.

hi N.,

My sister just threw a Carnival themed birthday for her daughter that turned 2. She had my friend dress up like a clown (spray painted her hair and painted her face) and did face painting. She got a water gun and had them spray little plastic toys to knock them down. There was a big Alhambra water jug that they ad to drop clothespins in and she also got a kid pool and filled it with paper fish attached to a paperclip and had the kids fish with a pole that had a magnet at the end. They won tickets and got to trade them in for prizes. SHe got mostly everything at the few dollar stores in the area. The invitations matched as a carnival theme. I think she found the idea on MarthaStewart.com. They kids loved it. I know that there are more ideas on that website if you want to check it out. Good Luck.

For the house birthday parties I attended this year, having arts & craft tables set up so they can color or paint.

If you want activities, your best bet is to hire somebody to come in who does the bubbles & dancing & singing or balloons. They will have better control of the children than you would. Plus that frees you up to see to the food & parents.

Good Luck. (Honestly, I think Chucke E Cheese is the way to go. It is the cheapest place & it is Vegas for Kids. And they do all the work.)

Hi N.! Well, I don't know how well this will work with 3 year olds, but my 3 year old loved it at her older sisters b-day party. If not, an idea for when she is a little older. We do "Freeze Dance". Kind of like Musical Chairs, but they dance and when the music stops, they freeze! You repeat this until the last one is standing. The kids love this! Other than that...the usual, "pin-the-tail" on the whatever your theme is, Simon Says, red light-green light-(good outdoor game)a pull string pinata-(you can tie this to something in the house because they just pull the string one at a time) or a craft always works too! (you can find easy crafts that already have all of the pieces @ the $99 store, Target, Walmart or any craft store). Also, if you are only having girls...they love to have their nails painted & kids make-up to put on. Well, I hope this helps a little! Take care & have fun!

Print some coloring sheets in the Birthday Party theme for coloring. You can have a scavanger hunt - make a sheet with pictures of the items they are going to look for and then hide them in the house or yard - make sure to hide enough so each child can get ONE of each item...

If you tell me the theme of the party I can give you more ideas...

Hello-N.!
Why don't you try a game that involve the parents & children w/ play-doh, googly eyes, anything you have around the house to make things stick on the play-doh. We had a fun making them. Everyone had to pick a folded paper in a bag to tell us what to make. Everyone had a sandwich ziploc bag w/ different colors of play-doh, cotton balls, googly-eyes, toothpick, Some snipped yarn & buttons. Everyone had something to make & everyone had to guess what it was. The best one won a prize.

Three years olds can be hard to shepherd into a game. Activities often work well, or simple games like the ones others have mentioned. One activity that my son liked was to make a shakey egg. Take a plastic easter egg, fill with rice or beans, tape or glue shut (parents needed for that) then decorate with stickers. Makes for great hand maracas.
