Help... My Husband Cooked up a Greasy Mess!

We rarely eat deep fried foods, but last night my hubby decided he was going to make home made french fries. He used my big Calphalon dutch oven, less than 6 months old, instead of the deep fryer (arrrghhh) I washed the pot after it cooled last night, but there was still browned, greasy, stickiness stuff all over it. I tried soaking over night, and didn't come off this morning. I just now tried baking soda and vinegar. So far nothing is working. Anyone have any ideas how to get my pot back to normal? I also have some of the stickiness on my stove top, but it's black and you can't see it as much, but would like it off too. Any advice...anyone???

What can I do next?

I would either try a magic eraser or this recipe I found on the internet. Good luck!

Water
3 tablespoons of sugar
Detergent
A sponge/cloth (a scrubbing brush is advisable in substitution of cloth)

How to make it work:

Take those greasy pot/pans and lay them on a flat surface.
Add 3 tablespoons of sugar to the base of the pot/pan.
Add a small amount of detergent.
Add some water (measurements are not necessary).
Rub the mixture around the pot/pan using your sponge/cloth until it appears that the grease has been removed.
Poor away the mixture (and the grease).
Rinse the pot/pan.
If any residue remains, simply repeat the process with smaller measurements of sugar and detergent.

I use Commet to remove the greasy mess from my drip pans and it works great.

Try filling the pot with water and letting a dryer sheet soak in it for a few minutes. Use the dryer sheet to scrub the pot. Works well when I use my electric roaster!

Otherwise try cleaning with a mixture of cream of tarter & water--you may need to boil it for a couple of minutes and then let stand.

When we got our calphalon pans, they came with an instruction packet and it said to you use a special sponge, I can't remember the name and some soft scrub to get them off. I usually do that then wash them really good with dish soap. We use ours all the time for oil and I've never had a problem. Good luck!
