HELP!! My daughter won't nap or sleep anywhere but on me!!! Last night we let her "cry it out". It was heart wrenching, but it did work. It took about 1/2 hour. Then she woke up an hour later for about 5 minutes and ended up sleeping until 7:45 A.M. My question now is, should I do the same for her naps?

What can I do next?

F.,

I have the same exact problem with my son. He is a twin...so that makes things a little more tricky. My question for you is, when do you let them cry it out?? He is 11 weeks old.

F.,

1/2 hour??? You got SOOOO lucky. Yes, do the same for naps. She needs to know you mean business and don't forget to be consistent. Good luck!

Hi F.

Congratulations on her sleeping in her crib! I had the same problem with my little one and started a nap in the crib routine at the same time as the sleep in the crib because I didn't think it was fair to give her conflicting signals. I just felt like letting her cry at night and giving in during the day was mean. It only took a couple of days before she had a really good sleeping routine in the crib for naps and over night.
It was hard to hear her cry, but I also decided that once I let her cry it would be cruel to give in the next day and have the first have been for naught. Good luck, but it seems you have already had a positive result, she is learning that she can sleep in her crib.

I had the same problem with my little girl. She is 8 months old and up until a week ago she would only fall asleep on me. It took 2 days and almost 2 hours to fall asleep but by the third day she fell asleep on her own in less than 20 minutes. She'll cry until she gets use to it. It wont take long, just hang in there and good luck!
