Hi everyone my question is I have a two year old little girl named Kirsten she used to love taking a bath she would take one twice a day. Then about two weeks ago she started screaming when I put her in the tub and ever since then she refuses to get a bath so I have to force her and I feel so bad that I have to do that but I dont know how to get her to like her bath again. And I have no idea why all of a sudden she hates her bath. I have tried letting her bath her baby dolls and her stuffed animals thinking that that may help her want to get a bath again but it dont so I would appreciate any advice anyone could give me.

What can I do next?

Hello. I had this problem with my son last year, and he has yet to outgrow it. I tried colored water, bubbles, toys, the whole nine yards. The ONLY thing that worked was to stop giving him a bath. Take her with you in the shower. It's a pain in the neck, but if you can get her in there with you and give her a cool puffy sponge to wash HERSELF while you wash yourself that may help. It's the only t hing that helped e keep my (very messy) son clean. Hope this helps!

I had the same problem with my daughter. She got into this phase where the bath was scary. I used the Crayola tablets that change the water colors and I would let her pick. We also had fun mixing the colors to make new ones. (Not only are you bathing but you are teaching art :o} ) They also make these fun bath crayons that are soap. We used them to draw on her. Also and I know this could be considered bribery but we would reward her for a good bath. She would be allowed an extra story if she did not cry during bath time. She will grow out of it and than you will be fighting to get her out of the tub!

Hi K., I think this happens to aloy of wee ones. My now 6 yrold went through it too. Dont force her. I did that with my daughter and in her mind, I was trying to hurt her. We would use a washcloth and fill the sink and let her "wash her face and soak her feet in the water. I would wash the privates and just do a more thorough job with wipes when changing her. It shouldnt last too long. Do you have a babydoll that can float in a tub ring. or mabeye get a submarine that she could push around in the water.Mabeye if you let her turn on the water and designate how much water. Wish you good luck.

Has she seen something on TV that may have caused her to become afraid of bathing? As mothers, we have to investigate what happened in our child's life that causes sudden changes. For instance, my daughter use to love getting her hair washed. One day, the water in the tub began to fill up. She became scared. Now, she gives me a hard time washing her hair. I'm going to purchase a hand held shower. She may find this fun to play with. You may not want to start this, but how about takig a bath with her? You two can have fun in the tub together.

Have you tried a hand held shower head or sponge baths? Maybe being in a tub with no water and just pouring warm water over her as needed from a pitcher?

They also sell some products that turn the water different colors...or a few drops of food coloring? Just to make it different?

I used to let my son play with the shower head. He would spray himself, the walls, and drink from it as if it was a fountian. He found it to be great fun. They are inexpensive and a good investment. It makes cleaning the shower and tub easier, and we like the detachable shower head for ourselves.
