Please someone help me... My daughter is 16 months old and she will not go to sleep. She will fight sleep and maybe stay up until 2am.. Sometimes I will put her to bed at 9pm but she will get back up at 12am or 1am. Can someone please tell me what I can do?
She sleeps in the bed with me and I really do not believe that I have to put her in a crib to make her go to sleep. I hate the idea that she has to scream herself to sleep by putting her in a crib... I even have her in activities to make her get tired but she still has soo much energy..
Help!!!

What can I do next?

When she gets up, do you play with her? You might have more success leaving the lights out and keeping it quiet, and if your husband or partner is available to help, enlist him to do some quiet walking and rocking as well. Babies usually do this when they're having a major developmental spurt and want to practice new skills. It's tough, but it doesn't last forever, I promise.

I don't believe in letting her scream, either. That's trying to break her will and will only make it worse. Just keep the lights low and remind her that it's still nighttime for sleeping. She's old enough to start understanding that, although obviously she still is too little to send to her room. Try to wear her out during the day, and as bedtime approaches switch to quiet activities like reading and a warm bath. Good luck!

You really need to talk to your pediatrician about this.

by Marc Weissbluth. Very enlightening. He actually says you need to put your child down earlier. VERY VERY good book.

Something is definately not right if this goes more than a day or two (that could be a stage or having a tummy ache). Does your daughter drink alot of milk or lots of milk type products? I might take a look at whether you are starting to see some digestive problems. We had lots of night wakings like this before we learned my son had digestive sensitivities (found on an IGG test). We took him off peanuts, milk, and wheat and he slept through the night for the first time in a year. You could test this by just eliminating cows milk and all things containing casein which is pretty easy (look online for GFCF stuff and you can find exactly all the ingred that make up casein). Basically, you remove milk, dried milk products, yogurt and cheese (cheddar is very low if you just have to have it). Try it for 1 month and see if there are any improvements. If there are, you may want to go further. Also, you may want to add in cod liver oil to the rice or almond milk for good viral fighters. If she was just vaccinated at 15 months, I would consider a possible problem with the vaccines (especially MMR and chicken pox).
Best of luck, I know that sleep is so critical to baby and Mom!
