So it started last night we took my 3 1/2yr old son and 18 month old daughter to the ER we had a mrsa scare but thank god both kids were negative for that. After the ER we take the kids to jack in the box and get them each a cheese burger and some fries. The kids wanted to eat in the truck and listen to the radio so we did but not even 3 bites later my 18 month old daughter just starts vomiting and I mean projectile vomiting. Afterwards she is acting totally fine her happy smiling self for the rest of the night and of today. Then we all sit down to eat dinner her and her brother were eating mac and cheese and I'd say 4 bites later she stands up and just starts vomiting. Then she was her normal happy self like nothing had happened. About the same time as last night. We haven't done anything different she's eating all the same foods, never had a milk intolerance problem I AM LOST. No fever or other symptoms. Her dr says I overreact but she is my baby and vomiting is not a good thing. Please help.

What can I do next?

I don't have an answer for you but I have a similar experience where for about 2 weeks every couple of days my daughter would wake up between 4am and 5am vomiting, she is 2 1/2. About a week after that my husband spent one night throwing up and three days of diarrhea, a week after that I threw up once and had a few days of diarrhea, then my mom who watches my daughter a few times a week had atleast two days of throwing up and a few days of diarrhea. I just think something is going around. None of us has been sick since and the cycle lasted about a month so it could make its rounds to everyone. Stay hydrated. Good luck to you.

Our oldest at around age 9 happened to vomit every Friday or Saturday night between 3-5 AM for weeks. Took her to the DR and found NOTHING. She had different things to eat each time. We tried to do only mild foods with no change. Then after a month or so it just stopped. So strange, never did figure it out. We suspected maybe just nerves or bad dreams or something

My son did this sometimes when he was that age. He would just either eat too fast or try to swallow too soon before chewing enough. Watch how she is eating and see if something like that is causing it. If it is always during meal time, that could be the culprit.

she could have a stomach bug and feels okay during the day but by the time dinner rolls around she has had too much and it makes her sick you don't always have a fever when you are sick. She could also just be eating too much during the day in general or running around a lot before eating upsetting her little belly. Why not try offering her something light for dinner tonight like toast.

What kind of foods does she eat? Maybe she's getting too many calories a day and ends up overfilling around dinner time. I would definitely bring it up with the doctor again, or get a new doctor if he/she won't listen to your worries.

My son was a random puker. He would throw up once - at night - and then be completely fine and never act sick. Sometimes as often as twice a week - he did outgrow it after a while.

IS she taking large bites? She could have a very strong gag reflex causing her to throw up. ANYTHING could have triggered i, I would not worry about unless becomes frequent.

Take her to ER again as soon as possible & insist they check her pulse & dehydration & demand IV & I 'll post my experience with my 4months old as I get chance but dont take any chance, take her again & recheck ,getting IV ,can save you from any other possibilities for her getting worse ,just for a side note,I took my daughter 4 months old to the dc 4 to 6 times a day & every time I took her in ,they undermind my worries & she wound up in ICU for couple weeks ,they did blue code twice ,dont listen to anybody else ,just look at her face & if you think she is owrse than 20 hrs ago, take her in,I'll keep you & your daughter in prayers & I hope the best for you.Keep us posted howw she is doing.

could be stress?

I am concerned that your doc thinks you're overreacting. What has the doc said is going on?

I don't love your doctor's response about overreacting - has this happened before? I'd consider another doctor if you don't feel comfortable. Not sure what made you take your kids to the ER - I assume that THEY had symptoms of MRSA (not overreacting) and you didn't just run them in because there was a scare in the area or with other people (could be overreacting).

That said, I don't understand Sadia's response about demanding the ER check the child's pulse. That's not something you need to ask for - it's routine! She obviously had a real problem with her child and doesn't feel she got good advice, and so she is extra vigilant. I agree with her that you should trust your gut, but I'd caution parents about rushing to the ER to check for pulse rate and dehydration unless there is an ongoing problem.

The stress of your ER visit, along with you and your husband's stress level, could have caused a reaction in your daughter. If she had more acid in her stomach from stress and unfamiliar surroundings, and if she had gone without food for a while due to waiting & testing, then putting some hard-to-digest fatty foods in her stomach might have caused the problem. I'm not sure what caused the 2nd night's problem. She could have a little virus going on. not enough for a fever or behavior changes. Try the "BRAT" diet for a few days - bananas, rice, applesauce, toast (or turkey/chicken) but no fat and no dairy, no junk. See if that settles her stomach. Try to increase fluids to replace what she vomited

If it continues, contact the doctor - don't just rush to the ER - the doctor will have her complete records. If you don't like your doctor, switch!

I wouldn't go into a whole thing of eliminating dairy except for the first few days - if she seems to have continued problems with this, email me back and I can help you nutritionally to get her body in balance. (No charge!)

Overreacting.. I can't believe that you ...are a mother and you have concern... always remember you know your child best. I'm sure it can be a number of things. It may not e anything o major but I sure would have a second opinion for sure.. You will find a doctor that listens to you and test for everything just to ease your mind.. I wish you luck and hope everything turns out fine.. Does she get over heated before she eats? It maybe that her tummy cant handle then type of foods at the time.
