Hello all, My 21 month year old son will not eat veggies as a solid. We offer him peas, beans, etc and he just trys to throw them off his highchair or will eat everything BUT them. However he LOVES gerber veggies. My pediatricion told me to continue to offer him the veggies, and if he refuses, to give him the gerber. My son is no dummy and knows this. Any suggestions on how to get him to eat them?

What can I do next?

Try using dip with raw veggies. My 2 1/2 year old likes to use sour cream.

My daughter who is 21 months also is refusing to eat veggies... she use to love corn and peas and now she will eat nothing. I keep offering them to her, sometimes she will eat a spoonful but that is it.

I have looked to products like juice that have veggie servings. I also let her eat the gerber puffs that are veggie, it is not like eating the full serving of veggies but at least she is getting something.

The only time I can get her to eat a lot of veggies is when I make homemade cheese pizza... I sneak the veggies under the cheese smashed into the sauce... she never knows!

I am eager to see what advice the other moms give.

Try to puree the veggies and mix in with a spagetti sauce, or mac-n-cheese? Then he can't pick them out. (It worked for me!) If the sauce was a different color, say green for peas, I told my daughters that it was "Shrek" mac-n-cheese.

I would suggest chopping the veggies up into tiny pieces and mix them with the Gerber food. Maybe you've tried that. That's the first thought that came to my mind. That way they're getting the texture and may get familiar with it.

Also, what I do, if you have a food processor (which I don't) or just a grater (which I do) you can grate carrots, zucchini, broccoli, just about anything and mix it into a meatloaf or any type of casserole. That way they're getting their veggies and they don't even know it! It's very sneaky.

Kids usually like to dip things too. You could try a cheese sauce for some green beans or any veggie or ranch dressing. Some kids will even dip in ketchup because they love it so much. (We like to buy the organic ketchup. Pick and Save does carry it. It also doesn't have the fructose corn syrup in it.)

Those are my thoughts. Let us know how it goes.
