My son just turned 9 months old and started biting me while nursing a few weeks ago. I was really hoping to continue nursing him until he was a year old, but he has 2 teeth on top and bottom now and he's seriously hurting me! I say "NO" in a very firm voice when he bites me and stop nursing him, but nothing seems to be working. The last time he bit me he drew blood! I'm just not sure what to do! Any suggestions?

What can I do next?

J.,

It sounds like you're doing everything I would say to do with nursing. All I can say is OUCH! I hope it gets better soon.

On a different note, I moved here from CA a few years ago and we love it here as well. What area did you move to? We live in Keller and we have a 4 1/2 year old daughter and twin 18-month old girls. My sister lives in Michigan - East Lansing.
I'm always up for meeting new people and making friends. I'm also the Vice President of the Keller MOMs club. It's an International Organization (it stands for Moms Offering Moms support). We do playdates, group activities and once-a-month, there's a mom's night out. It's been a wonderful way for me to plug in to Texas and make some life-long friends. PM me if you're interested in it, or even just getting together for a playdate at the park sometime.

Blessings to you and your family,
K.

My son did it to me as well when I called the Lactation consultant she told me to say in a very firm voice no biting and remove him from nursing. Then just try again later maybe 5-10 minutes. I guess it helped he still continued to bite, but it did get less and less. I think the nipple shields are a great idea (worth a try).

After my son bit me at 9 1/2 months TWICE and made me bleed, thats when the nursing ended. He was already on cereal/baby food more anyway, so I just supplemented with formula.

Nipple shields work. I have a 2mo. that sucks too hard and my doc suggested them. I got them at target. they take a minute for the baby to get use to but then they figure it out. two months- you can do it! OR be proud you did it this long and save your self from the pain if it isn't gone soon.

My sis in law's baby bit all the way through (teeth touched)... yeah, she stopped nursing after that.
