Help - I Think I Have "PUPPPS"

After seeing 3 dermatologists in the last week for a rash that started on my underarms and has now spread to my entire body, my OBGYN thinks I may have "PUPPPS". This condition is extremely rare and usually occurs late in the third trimester. I am only 22 weeks! There is no known cure or cause.

Please help me with any remedies that helped you. I am miserable.

What can I do next?

the best thing to do is get Sarna lotion at walgreens or cvs it is steroid free and smells crazy but you will be so happy. I did use aveeno baths and that helped for the 20 minutes I was in the bath and then I still had to use this great but awful smelling sarna lotion. YOu can go on steroids for your pregnancy and you can also do IVIg but this is such a scary thing. It is the blood from 1000 of people and you infuse it every 28 days. I luckily did not get pupps till 32 weeks and delivered at 35. Just pay attention if the babys movenemnts slow down get yourself to the dr and I would be on modified bedrest for now. There is no cure jut delievery and some women cant breast feed. It is the hormones they say that does it and as soon as I stopped breat feeding the pupps went away and I was even on steroids to get it to go that did not help. I saw a reproductive immunologist that said it was the male blood entering your blood stream somehow so it will be interesting to see if you are having a boy then he is right I guess. OTher OBs have no idea or care to know or are even wrong with their guesses!
Hang in there , get the sarna cream, ask the dr if or when it gets that bad if he will presecibe steroids no more than 20 mg of predinsone ok.
good luck

First of all congrats on your pregnancy. I can totally understand your concern but as I have read, it is not harmful to either you or your baby. However, it appears that the doctor will provide you with steroid treatments and I don't suggest that at all.

May I suggest that you use botanically based washes, lotions and oils to help the itching. It appears that it must take its course and vanishes 2 weeks after delivery. While I am not familiar with this at all, I don't know if you will have it for your entire pregnancy. I do think that steriods should be avoided at all costs, especially this early into your pregnancy.

I'd be more than happy to provide you with some information on all natural and botanically based products that won't hurt you or your child. I can't imagine your misery but I just hope I can help you. Let me know and let's get you feeling better. Don't worry, you aren't the first one. There is research out there so just google and ease your mind that nothing will happen to you or your child, ok?

My sister had this and her doctor gave her Zyrtec and an OTC steroid cream. It worked to relieve the symptoms but the rash did not go away until after she had her daughter.

I actually developed this after delivering my first child. It was awful until I saw a dermatologist who wrote me a prescription. I know you've already been to three, but maybe one more time and let them know the diagnosis you OBGYN gave you. Anything to stop the itching!!
