I have 2 step sisters and 1 step brother 14, 12, and 10 and I have no idea what to get them for christmas. I thought that there maybe some moms out there with teenage kids with some good ideas. I have tried to asked them and they say "Uh, I don't know" and my dad says "oh, they don't need anything." But I did manage to get out of my dad what they are into. The 13 yr old boy is into skateboarding, 11 girl into basketball and dance, and the 10 yr old girl is into crafts. Any ideas, PLEASE HELP!!!

What can I do next?

I have twin 1/2 brothers who are 11 and I had the same problem.
My step-mom told me to just get gift cards, which is a great idea. After much thought, I decided to get them all ( Dad, step-mom and two brothers) tickets to a hockey game. I cleared the date with my step-mom, but didn't tell her what it was for exactly and also included $5 ea for concession stand snacks. This way it's a gift for the whole family and it promotes them to have a Sat. evening of together time. Another idea, one year my parents bought my family a zoo pass. It was good for one year of unlimited entry for the whole family. Prices vary by zoo and they would have to live within a reasonable distance to Binder Park or John Ball. Hope this helps!!!!

I have a 12 year old son and can't figure that out! I decided I can't go wrong with gift cards to the mall. He wants to pick out his own clothes and music so that's pretty much all he's getting. I plan on a few small things for the stocking. He seems happy with that. If the have iPods, an iTune gift card might be a good idea so they can get some new songs. I know it's sort of a cop out but teenagers are hard to buy for and I remember a few years when I wished I had got gift certificates instead of some of the gifts I got :-)

My son also is a skateboarder. There are stores that specialize in just that the one store in called "JUST" off of bancroft i use to get my son a gift certificate from there or anything else that he could use, they always need what's called chucks, wax, or board toppers, plus that store has a good selection of shoes and clothes. The eleven yr old, I'd get her a Gift card that she could use at the Westfield Shopping Mall, since they have stores there that deal w/ both sports. The 10 yr. old Wow! this is so close to home for me i have a 6yr. old granddaughter that loves crafts also, when she comes over we have our own special craft day. I get most of the supplies from Hobby Lobby on Monroe St. and we also get things from the dollar stores, Wal-Mart and Hancock fabrics. She just made me a wind chime from using different clearanced glassware we found at all those stores and it's beautiful. All those stores have craft sets also or you can get her gift cards from 2different one's, she'd be surprised by what she can get. I know gift cards sound like we have no imagination, but hey maybe you can ask her exactly what kind of craft she'd like to do right now of course w/ out dropping the surprise. My granddaughter told me she wants to learn and work w/ canvas art like me and thankfully they make some paint washable.
Sincerely, C. Ortega

Gift Cards. This age group loves to have thier own spending money. My kids (12 and 15) love to get a Walmart or Blockbuster giftcard. They usually have their eye on something that I won't spend my money on, (game, movie etc.)but a gift card lets them make thier own choice.
Good luck.

Gift cards are great for teens. Make sure the skater gets one from a skate shop. Skaters are always doing something to their boards or wanting the latest T-shirt.Kids that age like getting gift card so they can pick out what THEY want. Good luck!

The 13 year old boy, I would consider maybe getting him a subscription to a skateboarding magazine, or maybe try to figure out what his favorite brand of board is, and get him a hat or t-shirt from the company. The 11 year old girl, I would probably find out what here favorite team is, and get her a nice sweatshirt with the logo. If that doesn't work, maybe something to do with the WNBA, so she can see some female basketball role models. The 10 year old girl is actually the easiest. I would get her some sort of nice craft set. If she's into art in general, I suggest a nice art kit, in a wooden case, maybe with a book on how to draw.

I'm not sure how much you want to spend...but what about tickets to see the Shock play for the 11year old? Michaels has a ton of craft projects you can pick up for the 10 year old-- or get her one of those nice boxes with markers, colored pencils, etc..or an easel.

Can't help you with the boy! good luck.

Hi T.,
Not sure what area you live near, but there is a cool skateboarding shop on the west side of Gratiot just south of 11 Mile called Corky's. They have everything for the skateboarding child. I'm sure even a gift card from there would be nice, but they have clothing, shoes, and the boards that they can build right there is the shop. My son is 13 & loves it there. The shop is in Eastpointe. As for the other kids, maybe something from the Pistons collections @ DC sports @ Lakeside Mall-Sterling Hts. Good Luck.
