Please don't be embarrassed! The doctor won't think any less of you. Think of all the things they have seen! Make an appointment and they will probably be able to help.

Your experience should remind us all that cleaners are more toxic than we may think! I try to avoid taking my baby son near cleaners in our house, but it's easy to forget. I don't think your situation sounds embarassing. If I were you, I would absolutely see a doctor.

This sort of thing happens more than you realize...and much worse. You shouldn't be embarassed. You should check with your doctor.

Going forward however you should remember that cleaners are chemicals and not only should they not be mixed but even when used as directed can cause immediate damage and/or long term effects to us, you families, and our environment. These products are toxic. We completely converted our home and all the products we use are non-toxic and can actually be mixed and/or used for other purposes too. It is great.

Riley, you crack me up. Mom2b I would definitely talk to a doctor. I've never heard of this condition and hope you get it fixed soon. I have found since switching to natural cleaners that my sense of smell is more sensitive when I go to friends' or restaurants that use something strong.

After a visit to the doctor to be sure all is well, an acupuncturist might be able to help with the return of your sense of smell.

Make the appointment to make sure nothing serious is going on.... and switch to non-toxic cleaners... I use all non-toxic, enzyme based cleaners for all of my household cleaning... I couldn't stand the smells and headaches associated with those chemicals.

Talk to the doctor. FWIW, I have also read/heard that the nasal swab form of Zicam (the cold stopper/preventer thing that Rush L is always recommending) can do that to your sense of smell also. I quit using them, and only use the zinc tabs that dissolve or the throat spray one now.

Hopefully it's only temporary! :)
