So I am going in today for testing (an ultrasound, bloodwork ect) and to set up my lap...I had to switch Dr.s and wait 3mos but it is worth it...I will be having a lap sometime in August...and I am very happy with that choice...! I am still ttc another baby and after I have it I will have my utrus. takin out...not ovaries...just utrus. But for now we are getting the endo taking care of...which is what I wanted!

You're lucky to have so many children if your endometriosis is so severe. If you had waited longer, you may not have been so lucky!
I have had it for years- and it has caused me great pain and hellish periods. Some women are truly asymptomatic though.
If you are not having symptoms, I would avoid any hormonal or surgical treatment. Pregnancy is really the best treatment!
I think my doctors neglected to discuss the ramifications of hormonal treatment with me- be sure to make informed decisions about your treatment.
Good luck!

Well the biggest problem you would face is not having children. But it looks like you have six and are very blessed. It is very common and you should just see your OB. Don't stress out yet...good luck!

Sorry for the late response--I just found this while looking for something else!

I've had endo for 20 years. It mostly meant painful periods. When I was up to 20+ pain pills a day (aleve, advil) I finally told my doctor I was ready for laproscopy. Just after that I decided I wanted to get pregnant, and the timing was a miracle. I didn't know at the time endo causes intertility! I got pregnant nearly immediately, because the procedure cleaned me out so well I was prime for baby =)

Apparently, now after two procedures, it's in places that cannot be burned off, like my bladder, and I'm experiencing pain AFTER my period is over! I'm battling that, guessing that it's that creepy endo! Let me know how you are and if I can be of any further help!

I also had endometriosis and still have. I was told at 19 years old that if i wanted to have kids they said to try soon because it could come down to not being able to get pregnant. My second surgery at age 20 they finally found it through a laproscopy. They put me on lupron depo for 6 months which puts you through menopause (not so fun). I now most likely have it back. They said where mine is located most likely the only option would be historectomy. I did eventually get pregnant 3 years after my second surgery after infertility treatment. I have 2 little girls age 4 1/2 and almost 3. So getting pregnant is possible. The endo can always come back though.

You REALLY need to OPEN YOUR MOUTH when you go to the doctor, and get EVERY scrap of information and every last option you can. YOU are your BEST and ONLY advocate.

I say this as a 28 year old surgically-menopausal woman.(Who can't have the fourth child she wanted) AND I have been menopausal since 26.

I had NO medical problems whatsoever.. then I had my first child (at 23)..All of a sudden, Im in pain everyday..Before I can figure out WHY, Im pregnant again.. So I end up having my gallbladder removed at 20 weeks of pregnancy. About a year after giving birth to my second child, I was finally diagnosed with endometriosis. I had surgery for it, but it was so agressive and came back so fast that I was having IBS because the endometriosis was adhering to my intenstines. My gyn had switched my birth control, and because of the IBS, I wasnt absorbing any of it and ended up pregnant with my third child (thank goodness!). I ended up spending the pregnancy on level 4 bedrest and in severe pain. When my new baby was 3 months old, I had a partial hysterectomy done (I had also grown fibroids in the three months since giving birth).

A month later, all the endo was back, so I started getting shots every month to put me in "fake" menopause. It was MISERABLE! Also extremely expensive. 500$ a shot. (liquid gold, they call it)

Anyway, I ended up going back for laprascopy and lost both of my ovaries in the process six months after the partial hysterectomy. I have been "menopausal" for two years now and I STILL havent been able to get the hot flashes under control. And I take two different full stregnth estrogen pills. So Ill probably end up with cancer and still have hot flashes.

BE VERY CAREFUL, thats all Im saying. Weigh every option you have. I had never had a single health problem and in the space of three, four years, I lost a LOT!

Do your homework. Dont take anyone else's word for something- its your life, your body- educate yourself and make decisions that you KNOW will be best for YOU and stand behind them. If you have to find a new doctor in order to be in charge of your own healthcare, do it! But for heavens sake, YOURE in charge.

my sister n law just found out that she has it and there is a non surgical procedure that alot of women seem to like and shes really considering it having it done.she also has some other medical problems and cant have anymore children.but anyway, what they do is the dr takes this balloon filled with hot water and places it inside u and it creates scar tissue. she didnt want her uterus scraped and she didnt want a hysterectomy so shes gonna have this procedure done. i would talk to ur dr about it.
