Have you heard of Kidz Cab? I have no idea what their rates are, but this seems to be exactly what they do.

GREETINGS! My name is S., several weeks ago, I posted a need for a ride from the Key School in FTW to my sons aftercare in East FTW off of Oakland & Meadowbrook. I received many wonderful responses with ideas, votes of confidence, shared experiences, etc. It was wonderful. I had, or thought I had, secured the ride for my son. Something happened, what i'm not certain, but the ride has fallen through! Now i'm left with almost 2 weeks to find a ride for my son. All that was left were the logostics of how much gas $ would be needed, & for myself, my son & my Mom to go meet her.
I never heard back pne week after confirmation on all the above, & consistent communication since the offer to help. None the less, I have no contingency in place and i'm desperatley now trying to locate a ride for him. If anyone has any ideas or maybe able to assist me in this endeavor, I would be not only eternally grateful, but blessed for the last minute relief. School starts 18Aug08 & I need the ride beginning 26Aug08. The ride would be needed @ 3pm, & both facilities are only 9 miles apart, not a long trek from one point to the other. Another pickle? As if it couldn't get more in a knot? Fridays the school's out @ 11am, I will also need someone to watch him for me from 11a-2p!
I'm open to any ideas, a little desperate I will admit. Scared would be a better description.
Thank you for reading my request.
Stef

I might be able to help, but I'm not sure. I live near you, I think, I'm right next to the Bill J. Elliott elementary school off of Cook's Lane. I have an almost 2 year old boy at home, and will have an exchange student here for the school year. That's the catch for me. As you mentioned, the schools in our neighborhood are not good. Our exchange students is going to Carter-Riverside high school, in north Fort Worth, and we will have to drive him to and from the school. He'll be playing football, so I'm not sure what the schedule will be for that. What time will your son need to be picked up from school? How long is he in after care? I'm wondering if I could be more helpful with the aftercare or driving. I feel for you, and would like to help out. Let me know specifics of your schedule, and let's see if I can help out. My email is ____@____.com. I know it's long...

I have a friend who's daughter attends school there. They seem to have a great network of parents. I know her daughter rides a bus to and from an Arlington location. I'm sure that the school may have some ideas on parents that could help.
It is a great school with much succes for dyslexic children. Good luck!

Hi...I'd love to be able to help you with giving a ride to your child on a regular basis, but I live in Keller. If you're in an occasional bind, once you find a regular ride for him, please call me at the ph. # below should you find yourself in an emergency situation & need a ride. (I am a former
public school teacher and a 5l yr. old Christian woman...I'm
sure you'd want to meet me ahead of time to make sure I'm not
a psycho, so call me and we can arrange that.)
I also got the impression from your story that you were having
trouble making ends meet, so I want to give you the following
info. regarding help with groceries. I hope this will help:
Riverwalk Fellowship in Haltom City on the corner of Denton Hwy. & Glenview Ave.(not too far south of Hwy. 820) has a free grocery give-away every week on Tues mornings. The parking lot opens at 8:00 am & I think they close the parking lot when it is full...say, around 9:l5, although it could be earlier... and free groceries are given out.)According to the
staff person I talked to, the following requirements are needed from the person getting the food: 1) residency in Tarrant Co., 2) picture id(such as a driver's license & 3) 2
proofs of address are needed(such as any 2 bills with your address on them)
She also told me of another program called Angel Food Ministries. They have a website, probably Angelfoodministries.com, where there is a monthly menu and you can preorder $75-$80 worth of restaurant-quality food FOR
ONLY $25! According to her, this minstry is open to anyone, however, they only accept cash, money order, or food stamps.
Also, she thought you had to order by the 2nd Monday of the month and the food you preorder is picked up on the last Saturday of the month, at the church!
Hopefully, you will be able to make your grocery money stretch farther by utilizing these programs! I think I'll check out the Angel Food Ministry myself!
God Bless you and your son!
C.

Hello. My name is L. and I live really close to your sons school. I just recently had a newborn and have been fired from my job because of maternity leave. I was actually looking for some children to pick up and drop off from school to help make ends meet. I am registered with CCMS and they run background checks and all. I am also CPR and first aid certified. Give me a call if you still need help and we can talk. ###-###-####. My computer is down so the best way to contact me is by phone anytime.

Where is the Father in all of this? Not to be nosy but do you have Medicade? Or a social worker of some sort? It seems like you should have somebody professionally to help you get over these life "speed-bumps".I have a friend that her medicade provides transportation for her and her child to and from eye-therapy and vision testing on a weekly basis. She went through some type of social agengcy.Have you tried dialing 211 and asking them if they might provide any answers? I hope you find something and/or somebody- God bless,
I have had great luck with hirepurple.com, an online job board for TCU. The problem it that often if you find a great person, often their availability changes with their class schedule at semester. We really have found some great 'drivers'. Good luck--I've been there!
Have you contacted the T? Do they not offer services for handicap and all? I would call them. Good Luck.
If you still need someone, my nanny would be perfect...She works for me until around 2:30pm, so she should be available to pick up your son..she knows that area well. She also has some experiences with special needs (she was guardian to an autistic girl in Wisconsin and until recently she was the night nurse to an Alzheimer's patient). Now that she is not working the second job, she could use all the money she can. She never drives on freeways (she's older, around 65?), and is always super careful when driving.
