I know it is not that terrible of a request to make, but my daughter is almost 6 months old. She just started eating stage one foods two weeks ago. Prior to that she was breastfed and supplemented on formula (enfamil lipids). She never had a propblem taking a bottle before, and she still will take the bottle during the day when we are out. It has gotten to the point in the last 2 days that she will not nap, or go to sleep without the boobie? She usually would feed a little go to sleep and stay asleep for about an hour, but now I cannot take it out without her waking up. It is worst at night when I am getting close to being on E... She will eat about 2 oz and cry and fit until she gets the boobie (up to 45 minutes I have tried bottle and bouncing and walking and bottle again). My poor Mom and Dad go through this when I ask them to babysit also. She WILL NOT take a pacifier, but to chew on it a little. She has been "teething" for 2 mo. now, but I do not feel anything hard on her gums to assume a tooth will be popping up soon. Oh- on a side note, she has begun spitting up (breastmilk, formula, and food) She used to never spit up, we would get a little but that was it. Now I can expect the minute I set her up from a feeding, it will come out.

Thanks for all of your help!

Sounds like it could be an ear infection or fluid behind her ears. My son did the exact same thing. I took him to the peditrician b/c I was exhausted & frustrated- he had an ear infection in one ear & fluid behind his other ear. He never had a fever so I had no idea he was hurting anywhere. When babies nurse it relieves the pressure on the ears. Also, when some babies get ear infections they spit up- their equilibrium is off and it makes them dizzy and thus upsets their little stomachs. It probably wouldn't hurt for you to take her in and atleast rule it out. Good Luck and Hang in there!

Hi A., I would definitely talk to your dr. about the spitting up. I nursed all three of my children and sometimes I too, was the human the pacifier. It was usually when they didn't feel good or were teething or upset. Breastfeeding is not just supplying breast-milk. It is nursing your baby in emotional ways as well. I did not use pacifiers for any of my babies. There are now concerns about the use of petroleum-based products in infants mouths (pacifiers). Try giving her more frequent feedings in smaller amounts and see if she spits up less. Good Luck!

have u tried different kinds of binkys? My son would only take the mam latex ones at first, he now uses the silicone ones. He was also nursed, I think the latex ones are softer. After i took him off i quickly put a binky in his mouth before he could really wake up. Sorry no real advice.

Hi A.. You may want to talk to your doctor about your daughter's spitting up after feeding. That sounds like Acid Reflux. I'm not sure how kids get it, but sometimes it just develops. There were times when after feedings we would have to have our nephew on a tilted bed until digested (about 10- 15 minutes). Again, talk to our doctor. About your daughter's "clingyness"... is there something that changed in the past couple of weeks besides eating? Sometimes as parents we forget that we adjust to change more easily then children. I hope this helps. Good luck!
