I am so torn in deciding yes to the shot or no!! We get the seasonal shot every year but I just dont know if we should get the h1n1--Im not one to jump up an dget a new shot when it just came out-for example when the chicken pox shot came out I didnt get it for my kids until it was around for a while and it was mandatory for my daughter to get it before preschool-I just like to know what the long term side effects are and this hasnt been out for long-Long term effects meaning what happens to you 5-10 years down the road--Im just torn because i know if we dont get the shot my kids will get it (most likely) but if we do get it are they going to be ok? I guess i just want all you moms to tell me if you are getting it for your kids or not-and why or why not--I know i need to make this decision on my own but need others opinion on what they are doing and why--I truly appreciate your helpa nd opinions--thanks so much!!

What can I do next?

If I can find it for my kids, I will definately get it for them. I just got it myself yesterday because the school that I work at offered it. From what I was told by my pediatrician, each year, the seasonal flu vaccine is different because the strain of the flu that they are expecting is different each year. Therefore, each year the seasonal flu vaccine is "new". The reason that I'm going to try and get my kids the H1N1 vaccine is because I want to lessen the likelihood of them getting sick. Anything that I can do to that end I plan on doing.

I hope that this is helpful. This is a very personal decision. People need to make the decision that is right for them and their families. Good luck & stay healthy!!!

We are not getting the shot because we don't believe it is necessary. We vaccinate for the necessary things and avoid over-vaccinating for things like the flu. A healthy immune system AND a healthy mental environment will keep your child from being sick.

Germs are EVERYWHERE. So why do some people get sick and others don't? The answer is an unhealthy OR overtaxed immune system. And having a lot of stress can cause your immune system to become overtaxed and the result is you get sick.

My stepdaughter is homeschooled so we have no worry of her picking it up at school. She does lots of activities with kids (such as gymnastics) so we make her wash her hands and take her vitamins. We also avoid sugar since it taxes the immune system as well. She rarely gets sick.

If she does get sick we use Miracle Mineral Supplement and she's well within a day or two. It works on viruses as well as bacterial infections.

As far as I know, the H1N1 Vaccine is not going to do anything horrible to your kids. It may or it may not prevent them from getting the flu. Everyone's body is different, and all I can say is there is no one "fix-all" solution that works for everyone.

If you're unsure about the long term effects of the vaccine, I'd just make sure your kids eat healthy, take their vitamins (including a large dose of vitamin C...try Emergen-C for kids) and have a healthy mental environment. Happy kids are healthy kids :)

Also, I've never had a flu shot because I am allergic to eggs and there is egg in the flu shot. I never get the flus that are going around, and I teach lots of kids three days a week! So it's just your own personal decision, don't let anyone make you feel bad for getting the shot or not getting it.

I was debating this for sooooo long myself.
I have researched, I have asked around and now I'm going to go with my gut feeling.
I will vaccinate the children, I have young teenagers and a 5 year old.
This is pretty much the same stuff they have every year,
just changed, to get a close match to the virus, that is going around this year.
Nothing really new.
The new vaccines I have always passed on,back it was Hep.B,than the chicken pox and now I will not give my daughter the papilloma vaccine, until I see it is safe.
If I wouldn't vaccinate, and my child would die,I know I would be feeling guilty for the rest of my life, wondering???
I'm more concerned about walking to school everyday with my 5 year old, passing all these cars, who have their engine running, and we have to walk right through the smoke clouds, inhaling that stuff.
So after debating this with myself for a long time now,I will vaccinate, but in the meantime don't drive myself crazy.

I have two little ones 4.5 and 3 and am pregnant with my 3rd. We will be getting the shot. I just watched "the Doctors" show yesterday and it was very informative. There is a lot of false information out there that people are reading and that is scaring people off from getting the vaccination. The H1N1 flu vaccine was made the same way the regular flu vaccine is made. They showed it on the show yesterday. The people most at risk of complications with getting the H1N1 virus are little children and preganant woman. It is my personal opinion but I think we are safer getting the vaccine then seeing what will happen if we get the H1N1 virus.

Good luck! I know there are a lot of opinions out there but you have to be careful what you read.
