Help-daughter Keeps Taking Diaper Off

My daughter just turned one at the end of July and since it's been warm, I just have a tee shirt on her and her diaper and she walks around the house and pulls it off. Yesterday she was in her playpen and pulled it off. I don't think she is ready to be potty trained just yet but what can I do to stop her from pulling it off and still allow her to stay cool in the summer heat?

It's very cute but only if she hasn't done number two in her diaper. Then it turns into a disaster.....

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

My daughter has such a short attention span that she just sort of stopped on her own. There will be times when she just has her diaper on and I'll catch her playing with the tab but I keep her pants on now and she doesn't think twice about it.

D.,

My daughter is 15 months and I have found the same thing. Have you tried putting little bloomers over the diaper (like something that would come with a dress). That might be enough to help her forget there is a diaper under there!

Good luck!

Sounds like fun!
I know since it has been hot, I would just put on a diaper and shorts on my son and let him run around for a similiar reason. It seems that when he just has a diaper, the tabs will get stuck on the couch and tear the diaper off. I dont know if it would bother you to let your daughter go topless, but maybe worth a try.
Good Luck!

ha ha, this may seem unusual, but when my daughter started ripping off her diaper, i started putting it on her backwards. the tabs were in the back, so she couldn't get to them to take her diaper off. it made diaper changes interesting considering i had to figure out houw to get the diaper on straight .... backwards, but it worked. she would try and try to pull on the tabs in the front, but they weren't there....lol. it was kinda fun to watch.

At this age, it's a phase they go through... they start to take off their own diaper...they 'discover' the diaper tabs and like to pull on it and thus, take it off. And it makes a sound when they do it too because of the 'velcro' thing diapers attach with. The way to solve this is... just put a diaper cover on her... here's a link for some real cute ones from Amazon.com: http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_ss_gw/102-###-###-####-###...
If you put these on, then they can't undo their diaper. If it's hot, just let her wear these over her diaper, and maybe without a shirt. Or, just put on a light weight thin cotton 'onesie' on her. Main thing is to of course have some kind of bottom on her, so the diaper doesn't come off. My son has been doing that too since he was 10 months, and my daughter before him did that too. They just think it's 'fun' to take off their diaper. It's normal. ANd they get a reaction to it too, when it comes off. So, when my son does that, i just don't react and then just put on his diaper cover bottoms.
Hope this helps.

Easy..just put on a T-shirt or tank top onsie. My daughter has been doing it for some time and when she has on the onsie..it's pretty good. Until months go by and she figures out how to un-snap the onsie. This I am trying to figure out now..lol. My hubby was babysittin g the other day and when I came home he had duct taped her diaper shut so she couldn't remove it. Leave it to a man to figure that one out..lol. Good luck

I use cloth diapers, so I have to make sure I use brands with snaps instead of velcro when my boys are going to be pants-less!

My daughter did the same thing and what we did to help keep them on is go with her to the store like Target or Walmart and let her pick out pretty and fun underwear to wear over the diaper. She might like showing them off and it will keep her diaper on too! P.

You'd be surprised about the potty training. I have a 10 month baby girl. My husband and i were curious to see how soon she would pick it up and she has. I'll sit across from her on the toilet and look like i'm pushing. She seemed to be laughing at me. It's only been about a month but, now as soon as she sits she'll go number 1 then number 2. Sometimes she won't have to go and will just sit there hanging on to magazine rack in front of her. She still goes in her diaper of course but, i've made a habbit of putting her on the potty twice a day (in the morning and in the afternoon) so she gets used to the idea.

Try putting the diaper on backwards, It is harder to reach the tabs when they are on her back.

My daughter is potty training and she does this all day long. What I do for night time and when I need her to keep the diaper on is cover it with a pair of the little diaper covers that come with all of her dresses. I would just choose a light weight one and that will detour this a bit. Good luck, and remember it is never too early to introduce the potty chair. Who knows it might start the ball rolling.

This must be your first child...they all do it! :) For some reason most kids go through a "streaker" phase. I'm not sure why. I think it's just a new thing they're discovering, nudism!
Good luck with your little one!

Hello I read everything and we tried it all, Putting something over the diaper is the best. She will stop in time, Now mine takes her pull up off, undose the side and is free. No pants does make potty training easier, but it is a mess a least its summer. Good luck try some of those things, they work but then off to a new stage.YEA!!

Put the diaper on backwards. Also, I heard a childcare provider recommend wrapping the diaper in duct tape. Kinda funny, but it sounds like it would work. Cheers! :-)
