My very active daughter has just figured out she can climb out of her crib. She is 20 months old and she has been physically able to climb out for a while but did not try. Now that she has figured it out she will not go to sleep. I put her in she climbs out. This went on for 2 hours yesterday when I was trying to get her take a nap. She did not take a nap yesterday and she always takes a very long nap about 2.5 hours. Last night we couldnt get her to go to bed either. We had to put her in the car have her fall asleep and then put her in the crib. She has always been a very good sleeper and this just started yesterday. Will she get bored with new trick she can do? Should I go out and buy a crib tent? I am already at my wits end and it has only been one day. thanks for your advice

My daughter started climbing in her crib around 18-20 mths. I caught her trying to climb out and resolved that I should put her in a toddler bed. Shorter fall. She loves it.

Sounds like it is either time for one of those "crib tents" or for a toddler bed! The first is more likely to keep her "in" and the other is a shorter fall- you will need the toddler bed anyway, so I would go with that option rather than buying a crib tent now and the bed in a few months.

If you go the toddler bed route - look on Craigslist for one. My friend bought a beautiful wood almost new toddler bed for $35. Then you can dress it up with cute princess or Dora sheets that you can buy inexpensively (toddler beds are a long-term solution so you don't want to spend too much on one).
