Im at a loss! I got the baby a toy that attaches to her crib nd thats it. I got my son a few little cheap things that he wanted, but nothing major. I usually get him one big gift (less than $100) and some other little useful things.

I wanted to get him some kind of really cool matchbox or hotwheels track or garage, something to do with all of his cars, but everyhing got reallllly bad reviews. Ugh..

Any must haves you can think of for a 3 y/o and a 6 month old baby girl?

What can I do next?

Walker type things she can use when she starts walking, like ride on toys. Knee pads for when she starts crawling.

Books for the 3 yo. I am a huge fan of books for any age.

id say for the 6 month old J. things youll need to buy throughout the year, since you only really have to get gifts for her so your 3yo sees santa brought her something, unless you can find used the music and motion roller coaster used on craigslist. My daughter loved that for a long time. For your son I'd say the roller coaster thing you sit on and the car flys down it, that got tons more use than any other toy at our house, even the adults used it=)

Molly:

At 6 months - it's more for YOU than it is for HER. I wouldn't stress over it and I think that when they are that young they get overwhelmed with everything any way.

The 3 year old? Again, I wouldn't stress - are you celebrating Christmas from the commercial side or the religious side or a little bit of both? If a tad of both - keep to three gifts and celebrate the birth of Christ!

If for the commercial side? then you will be spending money on things the kids don't really need or they will get "lost" in the mix of everything. Take a step back and find out what you REALLY need and go from there!

At 3 - our boys loved GI Joes, Matchbox and little soldiers!

What about MegaBloks for your 3 year old?

O. year I found this nice set of nesting/stacking blocks at Marshalls for about $10. They had the 1-10 numbers on the sides with pictures of that number of things per block. Dollar for dollar...the MOST use at about age 3.

As for the little O.....the toy crib, maybe a soft animal, some baby food, puffs in her stocking, and BOOKS!

I bet your 3 yr old would love some "Mommy time" or "Daddy time". How about a Cars 2 pillow case with tickets to go see the movie? Or a playdoh ice cream set with gift cards to go get ice cream? Kids these ages simply don't NEED much. They get more excited about the size of boxes and opening gifts.

My son is almost 2 and is only getting one big thing (for $40) for Christmas... he won't know ;) So for the baby girl, don't get much!! Sounds like you've done enough...

3 year old boy, I'd go to a second hand kids store... I've found my kids so much stuff there! They don't know/care if stuff's used! My 2 year old is really into tools, trucks, and dinosaurs... so maybe something like that? The one thing he's getting for Christmas that your 3 y/o might like, it's the 'Little Hero's Fire Station', it has people and Transformers made for little one's, and a huge fire station... I thought it was cool ;)

Have you seen Discovery Kids Color Me Playhouse? You can view it at Amazon and they sell them at Penny's, Bed Bath & Beyond and K-Mart (I think I saw it in their ad). Just a cardboard house that can be colored and they can hang out in. We bought one last year and it was a HUGE hit with our kids and their friends. Eventually it broke down. I bought one for this years gift as well.

Zingo is a great game he can play alone or with you guys.

My son likes the Hot Wheels Mega Garage: http://www.target.com/p/Hot-Wheels-Blitz-Mega-Garage/-/A-...

I've also heard good things about the track that attaches to the wall and I even just saw it picked as one of the best toys of the year. http://www.amazon.com/Hot-Wheels-Wall-Tracks-Starter/dp/B...

Please also check out my Discovery Toys page. I have some really awesome products for babies and preschoolers. Your son will LOVE Motor Works (not showing up online today, but will be available later this week, so keep checking). For the baby, Super Yummy is a perfect stocking stuffer, Boomerings are an absolute must-have, and all of the plush toys are fun and stimulating. You realize that at their age you are spending the money for YOU not for them. they do not care whether their gift was $10 or $100!
How about you take the money that you have not spend and put it into a savings account or college savings for them. When they get older and want something "big" they can take that money and get it.
That's what we do with all the $$$ that come from relatives for our DD, they always tell use to "buy something nice" for her, but she has enough toys, so we save it. I am sure when she hits 8 or 9 and just "must have" whatever the latest craze will be, she will be very happy about having a few hundred $ in a savings account from when she was too young to care about money.
