D.D.
I have a polariod dvd and have for years. I got it at walmart and never had problems with it. Mine came with a plug and play game system that works on 1 tv while you watch a movie on the other. Best thig for a long trip. I hope this helps.

Ok, looking for one of those dual car dvd players for our car that we can transfer back and forth... My suv has a super large sun roof that won't accommodate an overhead one..Its a Mercedes and don't even want to find out how much a Mercedes dvd player would be.. just want something simple and easy. We need something by next weekend and after reading a ton of reviews, none of them look that great.. We have a portable dvd player but it's one of those that fold and we tried to get a holder for it but it never worked well so thought I would try those dual players that attach directly to the head rest and can have both my boys (one being a 20 year old, lol) watch holiday movies on our 10 hour drive.. I was wondering if you guys had any recommendations or experiences with one's you may have used or tried in the past?!
THANKS so much for any advice you may have!!!
PS.. This is only for very long road trips and for my educational along with some fun holiday movies to watch with his brother.. Matthew does understand and learns alot from the dvd's I get. We are loving the signing ones and have made so much progress. I'm NOT using this to babysit my child but to help with education! YES, we read a LOT together.. so please no criticism for having a dvd player in my car!

I'm sorry, but I'm with the all the 'experts' when they say no t.v before two. I realize that we all succumb at home, but do we really need to have one in our cars, especially starting at that age? He won't understand the movie anyway and the moving scenery outside will be just as visual for him. I also think your 20 year old can hold a lap top. Hey, whatever, happened to books or good old conversation? Please don't let your kids become 'plugged' in and 'tuned out'. Just because 'everyone else' sadly has one and it's a good 'babysitter' doesn't mean it's a good thing. Holiday movies are great, and for are a joy to watch With the family.
We bought a Trutech dual DVD player from Target on black friday. It's ok for the price but already the sound quit on the second screen. Also the picture is better on the main screen than the second screen.
Hi patty,
I have the dual portable dvd players. talk about LIFESAVER, they just plug into the cigarette lighter and velcro around the headreast and wala. there are different kind, you can either buy them where they play the same movie or play their own. unless they wear headphones that would be awful, two different movies playing at once. but anyhow. I got mine at walmart very inexpensive and so worth the buy.especially for road trips. have a wonderful christmas.
I know this won't help you now.. but my husband has an audi and barrier sends alot of their cars to benchmark in bellevue wa.. we had them installed in the head rest they do great work top of the line work.. i like the dvd players in my husband audi after factory way better than my in factory dvd.

i would get them installed in the headrests. we did that at an aftermarket audio place. it is so much nicer than the dropdown one you get from the dealership and you get more for your money.
Depending on what kind of SUV you drive you may want to check for the factory ones through the dealership. They usually aren't to expensive compared to the after market ones, and have a pretty great warranty on them. Most others through stores don't offer to great a warranty, and depending on how they do the install it can void other parts of your car warranty out. Usually just a call to the dealership and they can tell you what to expect in price.
Hello! Do you want to use it ONLY for the car? Or possibly out of the car too? We wanted one that could be used in and out of the car so there are certain things to look for. Some car ones only plug into the car and would require an extra adapter to be used out of the car. Some only have headphones and not speakers etc... We ended up getting a single from Costco. It is Panasonic and comes with everything you need for car or non car use and a nice carrying case. You could get two of those. The older child could use headphones on one while younger could use the speakers or you could just get one that they could both watch. Good luck. I'd also find out what the return policy is so you can try one out and return if you don't like it.
Is it really an essential that they have movie access in the car? I don't really have advice for you, because we are not in the car long enough to need movies...but I would be interested in knowing what others suggest! Good luck!
