My son (2) and daughter (4) are both celebrating birthdays this weekend. We are having a family party at home on Sat. with mostly adults. What can I do to give it a theme and seem fun with 2 kids and a bunch of adults? Have you had a fun/easy/cheap theme that would get everyone involved without being cheesy? What should I cook/buy for dinner in addition to cake? I want it to be fun and memorable, but not stressful! (If you can think of something fun and relatively inexpensive out and about in the northern metro, suggest that too!) Help me with some ideas!! Thanks! Jennifer

What can I do next?

I agree with the other Moms who have chimed in already. I always do a combined party for my daughters since their birthdays are very close together. I usually get a few balloons, and sometimes (but not always) a couple decorations. Easy food that works for kids and adults is good, with lots of fresh veggies and cut up fruit are always a hit. I don't ever worry too much about having organized entertainment because the attendees are family, and mostly just enjoy getting together and chatting! And it makes for less stress on my part.

Hope your party goes well!

I have four kids and I always pair two of the kids together and I get a cake from Sam's club which are very good and cheap. Making a big pot of Stroganoff is cheap or sam's have hoagie buns and make subs and have chips. I like to go the easy route with 40 people at a birthday party.

Games I don't know cause we don't play games at family birthdays. I think the kids are so excited that people are there to celebrate there birthday with them!!

Hope this helps you!!

Do a theme that's good for boys and girls. Clowns, Fall, Gender Neutral cartoon character Dora and Diego etc..

Being that it's fall and close to xmas you could bring something into like pumpkins, paint them and display them at Thanksgiving etc..

I would do something real easy like sloppy joes, taco bar, pizza, etc....

I've found from example going to chuckie cheese or having a party at home is very similar in price. My daughter had a party at home this summer had 7 friends and it was like 100-150 in costs. Food and treat bags add up fast.

you can do Sloppy Joe's with chips. add veggies and dip. with the cake & ice cream then you'll have it covered. Sloppy Joe's can be made the night before & refrigerated then put in the crock pot to heat up. Ground turkey can be used if your family doesn't do beef. This is a quick & easy way to feed adults & kids. Hope it goes well for you
