what part of town are you in ? Krist Samaritan Center in Clear Lake does low-fee counseling and also may help you locate another place around Houston. I can also give you some suggestions for reading and other ideas too.
Does anybody know of a low-cost or free counseling service? I'm gonna lose it. Seriously.

i can tell you about a great counselor who works on a sliding scale- she works on beinhorn and voss, in hunter's creek. another option that i have not checked into is from the methodist church on westheimer, right by lamar highschool (i will get the name) but they have "stephen's ministry", and it is free. the people who work there are trained in various means of counseling, but they do not have degrees. i have heard good things about it. pm me if you want more info about either of these two ideas.
Hey.If you live in the Spring,Woodlands,or Conroe area, you should try the Montgomery County Women's Center. They are located at 1600 Lake Front Circle #200 in The Woodlands. The phone is ###-###-####,ext 228 or 231. If you live in a different area they might be able to help you find another location. The counseling is free. Everyone needs some one to talk to every now and then. Good luck and never give up.
I am not sure what part of town you are in but I know someone who got tons of help from the following agency, and she had little or no money - it is sliding scale and there are some services that are free if you qualify. The number also is a 24 hour crisis hotline. Call them and even if you are not in their area maybe they can point you in the right direction.

You are doing the right thing asking for help - don't stop now - get it so you can help yourself and your kids. I'll say a prayer for you that you will find help and be happy with your kids soon. You sound like you have a lot of responsibilities - and problems can happen to anybody so don't be afraid to get help. Do it for you and for your kids.
Take care.
If you have a church, they can help you. Also try BCAM (Bear Creek Assistant Ministrys). They are located off of Keith Harrow and HWY 6 in Bear Creek. There is a CAM (Cypress Assistant Ministry) located on Huffmeister, but I'm not familier with them.
M.,
I hate to hear of your troubles and I hope you are able to get some help with this so that you feel better soon.
If you belong to a church, then they give free counseling - I have had to do this. You can also go to your doctor and they can usually assist you with getting low-cost care.
I really wish you the best of luck - feel free to write back if you want some free advice on your problem. I have two good ears!
God bless,
Deborah
MHMR - the one for Montgomery County residents is by Conroe Hospital; I am not sure where the one for Harris County is. Check your phone book. Check with your counselor at school. They may have services for students. You may try a church as many offer services. But definitely seek some help.
My friend has found a place that is wonderful. It's called the Center for alcohol and drug counseling but I asked her and she said that they counsel on anything, not just addiction. She goes in there and just discusses what's going on in her life and they listen and give advice. The reason it's so inexpensive is because they are interns, but she has had nothing but nice things to say about them and they've helped her tremendously. I hope this helps. Hi;
There are several sliding-scale counseling services in Houston. If you Google with the question "where in Houston is sliding scale counseling" or "where in Houston is free counseling", there are many options that come up. Quite a few are faith-based, and there are non-faith based as well. One I didn't see immediately is the Jewish Family Services on Braeswood, which is very good and as low as $25/session. When I came to Houston 12 years ago after a family tragedy I went there for short-term counseling. Great you are taking on your wellbeing!
