He may be going through a growth spurt where he wants to sleep more. My son is 5 months old and is just now eating 6 oz so 2-4 oz is still good as long as he is eating something.
I have been noticing for the past few days that my 12 week old son, who usually eats 6 oz of formula at each feeding, has been only eating 2-4 oz with some feedings. He either simply refuses to take the bottle or falls asleep. He doesn't usually want to eat sooner than his next feeding which is usually between 3-4 hours. I think this may just be a stage he is going through but I just wanted to see if other moms went through this as well. He doesnt seem to be losing any weight, but yet, it has only been happening within the past few days. Could someone PLEASE reassure me that everything is okay. lol If my son was losing weight then I would be calling the doctor but hopefully some of ya'll can help me out?

I am dumb? Don't think so. A son is changing. WHEN he starts losing weight, call the doctor. Maybe the spacing out of eating would help. Otherwise, don't worry so much. No one had a manual to tell how to take care of babies, although Dr Spock in the 60's had a good book.
I agree with the growth spurts. When they start going through these periods, they will sleep differently, eat differently, etc. If you start to notice him being sick then it's a different story but you will notice plenty of periods of change that will result in the outward change of your baby.
Hi L.,
Hasve you ever not felt 'really' hungry? That is what he is going through. There will be times that they eat so much you wonder where it's goign and others, like now, that you aren't sure he's eating enough. If you are getting wet diapers, he's fine!
Growth spurts go in cycles. They eat like piggies and then a week or so later they sleep and couldn't care less about eating.
I remember my oldest slept for 36 hours but for the exception of 1 bottle that he fell asleep on somewhere in the middle and diaper checks/changes, but he slept through those. I freaked out and kept checking him. He was fine but grew like 2 inches about a week later.
If you get really worried after a few days of this, call your pediatrician's nurse line and ask them. They'll go over everything on the phone and either make an appt or tell you all is well.
Oh, what I wouldn't give for a tiny tyke again! Guess I'll wait for grandchildren, now. LOL
Enjoy your little one! Blessings!
L.,
Call your doctor. That is what they are there for.
