Please someone. my son has had diarehha for over 2 mntns now and all he will eat is regular milk. doctors say its just a stomach flu and it will go away but he still has it and we have had to bring him into the doctor and hospital several times for throwing up or dehydration. He has been fine ever since we put him on regular cow milk but doctors are telling us to put him back on formula and if he wont take it to starve him until he takes the formula!!! what do i do?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

So my son is basically on "Lactaid" which is a regular milk. against doctors wishes they wanted us to keep him on formula but he doesnt like soy formula and hates regular formula. He seems happier, *besides teething* and bowel is i guess normal. its not diarehha but he gets constipated some times. The color is always yellow is that normal??
Thanks for the refferals of doctors however, I am on tricare? I dont know if they accept it..but if they do please give me thier numbers i would love to switch doctors.

2 months isn't the stomach flu! I would find a better doctor one who cares! Have the baby tested for allergies. Try soy formula. I would demand that they do something other then telling you to let the baby starve til the baby takes the formula! if they don't think 2 months is to long then I sure wouldn't go to them again!!! I am a momma of three. Mine are all older now though, in their teens. My youngest had problems with the formula as well. I switched her to soy formula and that worked pretty good. I would have the baby tested for allergies and have blood or a stool test done! Every stomach flu I ever heard of only lasted a couple of days, and if the baby doesn't have a fever or other flu like symtoms it isn't the stomach flu!!! Goodluck! Find anotjer doctor and DEMAND results! That's your baby!!! Don't back down just because they have a MD. after their last name!!!

have him tested for roto virus. this happened to my nephew and lasted for about 2 months and my sister finally found out he had the virus ( he was hospitalized for dehydration). You also might want to switch his formula.

I would suggest taking him to a chiropractor. My children go to Family Life Chiropractic in Clearwater (if that is close to you). They are very accustomed to children there. I also have a pediatrician, Dr. Danuta Jackson, who I would highly recommend. Between these two different sources I am sure they would figure it out. Good luck and let me know if you need phone numbers for either!

It sounds like it’s a formula issue. What formula are you giving him? My oldest had belly problems (severe gas and diarrhea) I went through about 10 different formulas to find out the right one that worked for him. Enfamil Prosbee Soy Lipil worked wonders for my son. Also Mylicon gas drops worked wonders!!

Go to Enfamil.com and they have a lot of formula suggestions. Here is what I found under diarrhea: The most common cause of diarrhea is infection from a virus or from bacteria. Other symptoms may include fever or weight loss. Diarrhea can also be a sign that your baby is having difficulty digesting lactose, the carbohydrate found in most milk-based formulas. Or he might be allergic to the cow's milk protein in his formula. You should contact your baby's doctor when your baby has any of these symptoms.
If your doctor determines that your baby's diarrhea is caused by a lactose problem, the doctor may recommend a milk-based, lactose-free, formula like Enfamil LactoFree® LIPIL®., or a soy-based, lactose-free formula like Enfamil ProSobee® LIPIL®.. If the doctor thinks that the diarrhea is due to a cow's milk protein allergy, he or she may recommend Nutramigen® LIPIL®., a hypoallergenic formula.

I hope this helps you out, I truly understand having a baby with belly problems it took me months to get this fixed for my son. If you need anything please feel free to ask. GOOD LUCK!!!!

That same thing happen to my son.. The dr kept saying it was the flu.. blah blah blah.So let me tell you after i threated to call the boards on them they were quick to see that it was taken care of. I seen 3 different dr and they all said the same thing. So i said that they needed to do cat scans or xrays what ever they had to do to make sure that this would stop.. So they sent me to all childrens and shot some die in him and did a more intese xray and i think that is when they found out that my son had a little tiny peice of foil that was blocking him.. and once the die started comming out he was fine. He had alot of bowel movements then it passed while the die was comming out and he was fine. And because he had blockage everything that he was eating or drinking was comming out like water was because it was moving around what was blocking him. So try that and see if it works.. IT did for my son.

Not sure, but my son was allergic to milk and we had to give him soy products. Have you tried the soymilk products? There are many different flavors to choose from and it tastes very good - they even have chocolate which tastes better than chocolate milk. Good luck.

I would go to another Dr.for a second opinion I know you said you put him on whole milk but at six months that can be a little dangerous so I would try soy formula it kind of sounds like he's lactoes intolerent
