I just found out that my son's insurance coverage from C.H.I.P.S. will expire on Sunday & we don't qualify for recoverage. We make about $10 over the limit for a family of three. He has to have insurance but I have no idea what to do! I'm only a part time worker so I'm not even offered insurance & it's WAY to expensive from my husband's job. He & I haven't been insured in years. I'm just scared that something will happen to my son while he's not covered & I'll have no way to cover him. What am I going to do????

Hi D., when my son was born, my HR person didn't get him enrolled in my benefits, so I had to do insurance on my own for about 8 months. I ended up just walking in to Blue Cross Blue Shield. I got him a private policy, and it only cost me about $68.00 a month. Not TOO bad, considering he could have had huge medical bills. That covereage did NOT have prescription coverage, but with the generics available, it didn't end up being too bad. Anyway, hope that helps.
