HELLO LADIES
Well my problem is really not that complex when you think about it but in my head i feel like im going crazy. Last year when my daughter turned one i spent a little over 1300 dollars for her birthday, I know im an Idiot who did 100 hours of overtime in two weeks plus my regular shift.... I just felt that she needed the pony and the clown and bounce house, catering etc...This year I promised myself that i would not spend that much this year and i put myself on a birthday budget..$250.. But I dont know where to start cause everything i think of leads to an expensive party..Please dont think that i am bragging i am truely lost about planning on a budget...can anyone guide me in planning for a two year old and 15 friends and 9 adults.. you guidence is truely apprieciated..

What can I do next?

No need to spend that kind of money. Rent a room at the Little Gym (all over the city) -- buy and cake and some ice-cream and you are all set. Go to a park or the zoo and have a big picnic! Pin the tail on the donkey and games like that are still fun for youngsters!

My sons first birthday we did something similar and after that we said enough. I realized that we didn't have to go crazy cause he is a kid and they love anything you do for them. So basically keep it simple. Kids love bounce house and we rented one for our sons birthday last year. The company comes out and sets it up where ever you want and they come and take it down you don't have to do anything. It cost us $150. As far as the cake kids love to decorate there own so we make cupcakes every year and buy lots of sprinkles and icing and let them go to town. (In the backyard of course.) As for food we normally pull out the grill and grill hot dogs and make nachos. Sam's has great deals on chili and cheese and chips and normally it only cost us around $50 for the food and drinks. My thinking is if you go extravagant every year then you will end up paying the price when one year you can't do it. So if you keep it simple then they won't know the difference.

M.,
I have 4 kids so we only do b-day parties every other year. On their non-party year they get to invite 2 friends over for dinner, cake and a movie. For the party year we have a $100 budget. I don't buy goody bags for the kids I invite. I make my own cakes- we have a blast decorating a simple 9X13 cake. I have never felt the need to entertain adults- I mean I offer them soda or coffee and maybe put out chips and dip if they are at my house, but never anything if we are out. I also have never felt the need to invite everyone in the class, Sunday school etc....
Some places that have reasonable parties are Metroplex Gym, the local parks and rec center, and Pump it Up.
At 2 I invited 5 or 6 friends to McDonalds bought them all a Happy Meal ( $20.00 ) and let them go crazy on the play equipment. We brought in our own cake- had a blast!
Remember she is 2- she has NO expectations. She just wants to have some fun!
