I am a mother of four wonderful babies i have recently (after the birth of my 19 month old) atarted to gain weight. Not a massive amount but a little more every couple months or so. I have tried dieting and a little exercise but by the end of the day after work and house work I'm all out of go. My husband tries to get me to work out with him but the most i can do is just sit and watch him and get another load of laundry folded. Any advise on how to get more energy to get that much neede work out squeezed in???

What can I do next?

Coming from the south my diet was very poor, but after I had my baby I started to eat more baked fish and chicken and fewer box dinners. I lost my weight by dancing around the house to entertain my little one while I unloaded groceries or did my laundry. The lighter food seemed to help me feel lighter on my feet so that I had the energy to dance here and there.

Hi K.,
I dont know how I could ever offer helpful advise to you, I'm a single mother of only One 12 year old, I feel for you, you must be so exausted, I know how tired I was when my son was smaller and it was hard to do anythig for my self while he was awake, I think what worked for me though was to use what energy I had when I had it, which was after work and before home, I'd go work out after work before I picked him up from daycare, even if it was for 20 min, then I found I was kind of pumped up to do more around the house later, so maybe that might be helpful to do either it in the mornings or after work before your evening routine starts. Now that the nice weather is here, maybe also you could take the kids out for a walk after work too, go play basket ball or tennis, I have a friend with 4 boys who is so amazing and she takes her kids to the High School Track and they all walk around that a couple times for extra exercise and she's lost over 40 lb. Good luck.

I really am not a person that works out. I do weight watchers online it is about $100 they take 3 payments to break it up and they sent you everything you need and I love it. I have lost weight and kept it off.

Hey K.,
I only have one child, a daughter who is 2 1/2. I still have some baggage from the pregnancy I'd like to loose before we start trying this summer for another baby! I don't know how you feel about movie time, but every other day my daughter has seem to catch on, I do my work out in the morning. When that stuff comes out, she knows she gets movie time!! We are really big on small amounts of television, but by the time I'm done w/ the workout, she's ready to do something different! This gives me time, as well as her - her own time. I also found that giving certains days a specific tasks also makes me feel less overwhelmed. I am a MAJOR neat freak so I always have to have something to do, but on those Mon., Wed., and Fri.'s after workouts, my days are so much smoother!! Hope this helps :) Good luck!!

My advice would be to workout in the mornings that way you know you will just get it out of the way atart by just 20 minutes a day then increase as you get mor energy. But if you work out in the mornings I know you are probablly tired hten but have a protein shake that will get you going or oatmeal is a good mornig meal and gives energy. Work on that and then build p to it. People that workout in the mornings are more likely to succeed cause then you have it already done and you are more opt to eat healthier during the day. THat is what I do I have had 3 children and have bounced back to my pre-pregnancy wieght .

Hi K.,
I totally understand it when you say you have no energy and getting the laundry folded is good! You have 4 kids - that's exhausting so don't be too hard on yourself! :)
I had the exact same problem with weight gain after my pregnancy. I only gained about 23 pounds with my pregnancy but it was *after* that I started to steadily gain weight. I found out a few months later that I had a thyroid problem so you might want to have it tested. I was on armour thyroid, then synthroid for a while and they helped some but actually what helped me the most with energy and weight loss was the treatment found here: www.wilsonsthyroidsyndrome.com. It may or may not apply to you.

I am the mother of 4 young children and understand being out of energy, especially by the end of the day. Over the holidays I decided to diet--Insane!! Even though it is not the prime time to diet, I found a diet that worked and I felt tremendously better and more energetic. I did the Body For Life. I also used Power 90 Strenth Training with the bands to go along with Body For Life. Over November and December I lost 10 pounds and felt great. The first 2 weeks of the diet are always the hardest for me, but once I got past that point my body better adjusted and my cravings lessened. Good luck!!! Parenting is exhausting.

K.,
Diet and exercise are an on going battle for everyone I think. Maybe try exercising in the morning. It always seens to make my day better and I have more energy through the day. Do you take vitamins? They should help also.
Good Luck.
