Hi! I don't know how far along you are but it shouldn't be hard to find the baby on ultrasound if you're more than a few weeks along. It sounds like maybe your OB isn't being clear with you. Maybe ask him to explain what he's doing more thoroughly next visit and make sure you ask him all the questions you have when you are there. You could also call for clarification on this last visit now. And if this doctor won't stop and answer your questions, it's time for a new OB! Good luck.

Talk to your doctor! You need to get more info, and fast!

I don't have enough info to say what is going on, so I could be completely wrong. I am not saying this to scare you, but I really want you to talk to your doctor. The first thing that popped into my head, after reading that they couldn't find the baby with the ultrasound, was "ectopic pregnancy" (such as a tubal pregnancy). This is where the fertilized egg implants somewhere other than in the uterus. Even though it is not a viable pregnancy, it can start to develop and even have a heartbeat. The danger is that you could start to hemorrhage internally and if youdon't seek medical treatment you can bleed to death. Go to the ER, if you have any abdominal pain, especially if it is to one side or the other. I really hope that I just don't have all the facts and that I am completely wrong. Please talk to your doctor!

If you're 8+ weeks along, it shouldn't be too hard to find the baby. If you aren't too far along, the dr. will most likely to a vaginal ultrasound, which sounds like this could be your best way to go now. Other factors that could play into finding the baby would be your body weight, scar tissue and the age of the ultrasound equipment. Congratulations :)
