I know this has been asked before and Ive read everyone's answers but I still need more! I am going to be delivering a baby in 3 weeks and have NO idea which hospital I need to go to. My choices are Harris Methodist and Baylor (Andrews womens clinic). We went and toured them both this weekend but still havent come to a conclusion. I actually want Harris because my doctor (Dr. Bradford) prefers it as she is the chief of OB. But, my husband wants Baylor because 1. its much less complicated to get to, free parking, gorgeous facility and more cozy for dad, 2 our last name is andrews and my husband thinks its fate. I am leaning toward Harris because 1. Im afraid my dr. will be upset with me for not taking her recommendation and not give me as good of care as she is very affiliated with Harris 2. Im a high risk patient and she seems to think there is better emergency care for me and baby.

Please Help Me!!! Im really confused. All comments welcome and appreciated!

So What Happened?

I ended up choosing Harris, much to my husband's disdain. I probably would have been fine at either hospital, I just felt like my dr. would have provided better care for me at the hospital she prefers. I feel better now that the decision was made. Thanks for all your advice!

Well, if it were me, I would go with my Doctor's recommendation. And I understand wanting to Daddy's feelings in to consideration, but ultimately, you are the one going through the ordeal of giving birth, you need to be comfortable both physically and mentally. We had our three year old son at Harris and had a wonderful experience. We were very well cared for.Our daughter is 8 weeks old. We had her at Baylor. The staff was terrific! We felt like we got high quality care. My complaint? There was NO hot water in the delivery or the recovery rooms. The nurses warned me in the delivery room and apologized for the cold sponge bath. In recovery, I complained about no hot water and was told they would "look into it". Having an episiotomy is never fun, but cleaning it with ice cold water is miserable. We only stayed 24 hours, and the cold water had a lot to do with our choice to go home early. Parking WAS convenient and the murphy bed for Dad was definitely an improvement from the benches at Harris (although I would advise bringing a sheet, the plastic on the mattress drove my hubby crazy. The nurses did make sure my husband had a blanket and pillow).

Okay, I am not trying to be mean but...Dad is NOT the one having a baby! I love/adore my husband but his comfort would not be at the top of my list nor would be the free parking...seriously??? If you are high risk and your doctor suggested Harris Methodist there would be no question in my opinion. We loved the LDR at Harris Methodist but we have never been to Baylor to compare the two but in all honesty-the safety and well being of Mom and Baby would be my first and only concern. HTH and Congrats on your little girl-they are SO much fun, I have two and a precious little boy but you know how much fun that is!

I have no experience with either because I delivered mine at Medical City Dallas but if you're high risk and it will be better at Harris, then the decision should be easy. Go with Harris. It's not about dad this time, it's about you and the baby.

I would go with your doctors advice, but look at it this way...if anything goes wrong and heaven forbid that it should...if you deliver at Harris and the baby needs to go to the NICU at Cooks the two hospitals are connected on the L & D floor so that you will still have easy access to the baby during your stay. Dad won't have to worry about splitting his time between 2 hospitals and he won't have to fight parking at both hospitals! Praying that everything goes well for you & that your husband will support your choice!
