My daughter is blonde and blue eyed and has a very fair complexion.. About a week ago I took of her shirt and she had little red dots all over her chest and back. It was a hot sunny day and the shirt she had on had tiny holes in it.. So I figured she was sunburned through the shirt. Yesterday was also hot and sunny- and I took of her shirt and she had the same little red dots. But the shirt she had on had no holes in it.. So I dont know what the rash was. I must be related to the heat- but it doesnt look like prickly heat. It is just red spots- not raised bumps.. Any ideas??

What can I do next?

Hi Lisa,
My daughter has had the same thing before with the heat rash. She gets little red dots all over her chest and belly. I don't think there's really anything to do about it except dress them as cool as possible when its warm outside. Also, make sure she stays cool and drinks lots of water. That's the only thing that has helped me!
Hope it helps

I would say its heat rash. There is many kinds of heat rash. My little guy just had a heat rash from a fever he was running with an ear infection. Plus my oldest daughter (who is 8 now) had a rash on her arms when she was little. To us it looked like chicken pox but the doctor said it was heat rash. My suggestion is just keep her cool, like a cool bath during the day might help. As soon as i did that for my little guy after he had another heat rash without the fever it was helping.

It sounds like heat rash to me. That is what happens to both my son and I on hot days when we are out playing. But if it doesn't go away, you should contact your family doctor. Mine usually goes away after a few hours, same for my son. I hope this helps. Enjoy this beatiful weather.

My daughter had the same thing yesterday. I thought it was a reaction to the sunscreen she was wearing. I'm not sure! Good luck

Lisa,

My daughter had the same thing I found out she had an allergic reaction to the detergent I was using. It was Tide, I changed the detergent and it has never happened again. There was too much perfume in the Tide.

Hmm. If your daughter is around 1ish to almost 2, it could be the season for roseola. The rash tends to show itself after exposure to the sun. That part is not a big deal. The big deal is the crankyness and extremely high fevers that tend to accompany at some point. It is very hard to diagnose at a doctors visit due to the transient nature of the symptoms, if that is it. BTW, this is something you have to ride out, if it is roseola. It is contageous, but you can only get it once. Kids past the age of one are usually immune. Just pay attention to how high the fever gets because that is the only trouble you could find yourself in. That is my two cents.haha
