My son is now 11 weeks old and I still am getting horrible heartburn. Will this go away on it's own or should I call the doctor? It does go away with med's, but I don't really want to have to keep taking heartburn med's every day for the rest of my life.

Thanks

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Kirsten funny- my son also has reflux pretty bad so this may be something that goes together. Thanks for the thought!

Gosh, mine went away immediately after I delivered.
You might just be stressed so you have more acid than necessary....?
You'd hafta ask the doc on this one I'm afraid... wish I could give ya better news.

Hi,

When do you get it the most? I would try drinking a glass of milk to see if it helps. Also smaller more frequent meals may also help.

Or have you tried taking an acid reducer? It helps my heartburn alot. I do take it every morning but with my daily vitamin.

I never had heartburn till after I got pregnant with my 1st child. I've had to be on meds ever since.

You have to be careful and not ignore it or let it go. I now have pre cancerous cells in my throat area due to it and have to be watched closely cause it's causing me to have a condition called Barrets Esphogus
so it's very important to control and even though I've been taking meds for years even forgetting here and there has left me with a problem and I have to be rescoped yearly for now.....

My child is 10 months old and I still get heartburn (My child also has awful reflux-so maybe it's hereditary). A friend recommended that we try papaya enzyme for my son-and it really seemed to help him-so I have been trying it for myself over the past week and it's been working pretty good. You can get it in pill form (we take it about 15 min before each meal-about 1/4 tsp for him and 1 tablet for me).
Hope this helps!
